It must be Mankind's greatest achievement since nobody has been able to do it again

Apollo 11 will be remembered for thousands of years since it is the first time humans set foot on a celestial body other than Earth. It is easily humanity's greatest achievement.

Detecting gravitational waves is now our greatest achievement.

A Really great video. Just sad to see that these types of videos get much less views than millions of silly videos.

You guys had a purpose back then. Recognition to it. Imagine having the same determination -and funds- to achieve public healthcare and non-prohibitive college access. It is not impossible, in Europe we do. You have way much money, don't let deep pockets fool you. Without accessible healthcare and access to education you cannot even dream of achieving similar milestones like Apollo. Without social cohesion you only have tent camps and decline.

Given the technology at the time it was an amazing accomplishment but you have to weigh the achievement against the abilities of the time . There are many things you could point to and say, for the era it was a great accomplishment but it's always going to be subjective .

Well as Meatloaf sang "we're going nowhere fast". 53 years later and they cant reproduce it. Must be the only thing in human history were we haven' repeated such a milestone. Imagine where we would be if we only lite a fire once and couldn't do it again.

No, it wasn't even close. Penicillin and about 1, 000 other developments achieved more for humanity than this huge waste of money.

Imagine being able to do this back then but now all of a sudden can't even get out of low earth orbit.

Can't believe people smarter than me still believe all this. When you see it, you can't unsee it.

Funny we had the technology to do these missions with 50 years ago but we'll need another 20 years to go back again

What about Apollos missions Apollo 18-19-20, the three secret missions with the objective of surveying the massive base on the far side of the moon, I say Far side rather than Dark side because the far side isn't always Dark, in fact it receives light all across the whole of the Moon, once a month as it orbits around our beautiful Earth meaning as it passes between Earth and the Sun, the far side is lit up like a Christmas tree, and so every part of the moon's' surface receives sunlight, accept deep craters which have probably never felt sunlight for as long as the water ice has been present within such craters.

I think that the greatest achievements are using tools and developing written language.

Yes it was a great accomplishment but no, and I say this as a physicist. Humanity’s highest achievements have always been and well be internal.
