I feel the same way about Skip. Never had a problem with him. Always saw him as an entertainer PLUS journalist…….but his method was growing old. Especially without Shannon or Stephen A.

I remember sports writers and show hosts were signalling back in the mid 2010s. They were worried about their jobs with players retiring and moving into media. We seeing this with the explosion of current and former players having their own podcasts. It's kinda weird how none of them big sports writers/tv personalities did not pivot to the WNBA. We all knew it's gonna grow but, it needs outside voices to help keep it present outside of the Caitlyn Clark/Angel Reese headlines.

Skip Bayless will rebound a whole lot faster than people think. Everyone is convinced that ex-athletes can just pick up a mic and be compelling for a half hour to an hour. It's a skill set. Don't let Shannon Sharp be your example of some new wave. He is a unicorn. You'll get like three of him. Most athletes are too polite, buried in schematics, and don't understand the post interview style is overly generalized . It doesn't translate into sports talk. I've seen my share of respect fests from sports alum and it's f**king boring. Everybody thinks they want a mutual admiration society, but the numbers don't lie. Nobody watches. Big names fetch big numbers, but they don't maintain viewership. A steep drop off matters in long formatted entertainment. This isn't tick tock. The break up sunk the show because you can't recreate it with different personnel. It's like Desus and Mero. If they tried to keep that show going with a different partner, it wouldn't work. It's not about individual talent more than proven synergy. Cross-Fire didn't end because it was too combative. It ended because it was too clunky. That Brady Bunch split screen was a headache. Like it or not, Fox News proved that political acrimony is still commercially viable. We are a churlish people that pretend to be otherwise.
