I always tell my wife..if we win the lottery then as far as her side of the family is concerned, it's my money... And as far as my side of the family is concerned, it's her money lol

doesn’t matter who wins the game show, the IRS wins every single time 😂😂

I won 100$ on a scratch off once and my friend wanted 20$ of it. Let’s just say we aren’t friends anymore.

“Dave, I just won $475, 000 after taxes!”

Dave: “sell your car.”

Don’t tell anyone you have money. They will start lining up with their hands out.

if i ever won any thing like lottery tickets, gambling or show prizes ( i don't do any of those), i would happily share with my family but the moment they open their mouths and ask for it and feel like they're entitled to have my money, they're out of the picture

B/c she won some money everyone is coming out of the woodwork to get their cut. I wonder if she was down and out would they be coming out of the woodwork to help? I doubt it very much. They would be running away.

I ran away from a nightmare exhusband, was working full time and going to nursing school supporting 2 teenage boys on my own.
Our house burned down.

Not one of my four siblings stepped forward to offer any help.

Years later, it was my two older siblings that wanted money.

No is a complete sentence.

I remember a reddit post awhile back about a dude whose family won $5k in the lottery but the news got exaggerated somehow and people thought they won millions. They were getting relatives they hadnt seen for decades all of a sudden knocking on their front door

Just paid off my credit cards and sold my SS Camaro to a car dealership... I owed $24k and the dealership bought it for $29k, got $5k back in the sell... I’m sad I don’t have my mini super car anymore but I’m officially debt free besides my mortgage... I’m 36 and hope to pay my mortgage off by 40 and build a dream house.... Dave thank you for everything!

I absolutely think that's crazy for the government to take 50% or more of your game show or lottery winnings. I can see some taxes like 20% but not half of your winnings. That's just greed.

They'll complain if they get any less than an even split. So when you buy the house make sure it's at least 30 miles away from them.

Whoever has the balls to go on national television and compete in a game show deserves the money they won. That takes so much courage to do that! I love how everyone is making their claim.

I saw the show! The wall. Her Grandma was the sweetest tiny little lady! I was so happy for them. I often wondered what happens when they go home with all that money if the vultures come out and make them feel bad if they don't share. It's a good way to go broke fast!!😳😳

I saw her episode on the Wall. Her grandma is a character.

True Love doesn't involve Greed, Guilt, or Manipulation tactics.
This is not a healthy dynamic.
When you look for opinions outside of yourself, you will always be disappointed...

My sister had a meltdown when I was named Executor of my Father's Trust. She demanded a list of his assets and wants half of whatever I get. Meanwhile my dad (who she has no relationship with) is in good health and is at work right now. The scumbags of the family will always come after you for money, always.

The first thing I would have told her, and maybe she already understands this, is that the money is not nearly as much as you might think it is. Sure $475 K is a lot of money to just fall out of the sky, but the biggest mistake people make in this situation is to feel like “they’re set for life” when really that’s far from the case, and then they spend it all.
