Samsung dex is incredibly powerful in how dex allows you to multi task and use your samsung galaxy device as a computer. The samsung dex set up process is really quite easy. All you need for samsung dex is a USB-C Hub and a monitor along with some normal computer peripherals. With samsung dex you can type word documents, surf the web, watch netflix and youtube all without buying another computer. I'm 100% dex now. Great video. Paired with a monitor and a few cloud gaming services I'm gaming on a level that can't be equaled for less than $5k. This is the future is what I believe since we invest so much money on our phones and they're faster than most realize. My Samsung is way more powerful than my MacBook pro 10 years ago.

I use DeX and Huawei Desktop as my main computing platforms coupled with a NexDock 360. There's very little I need to use Windows for. So many people miss this powerful feature.

Bye Computer? I got my Samsung Note8 that I bought for about $35 since April 2022 and I've been exclusively using DeX from it because of its broken screen, so I'm going to be brutally honest about the whole experience.

No, it DOESN'T completely replace my computer at all. Android has so many limitations when it comes to desktop OS experience. Most apps and games aren't well optimized on larger screen, especially when it comes to keyboard support. Even when using Microsoft Office apps for Android, there are so many features that I use on the desktop version that aren't available on Android. And while the Note8 still has Linux on DeX capability, the experience is really limited with no ability to upgrade the software verison.

That is why I bought an Intel NUC 11 Enthusiast while upgrading my current laptop with bigger RAM and SSD storage. I never like the idea of using Windows via cloud virtualization solution as it requires fast and stable Internet connection in the first place and there are still bucket loads of places that still has little to no Internet coverage. If I really want to have a smartphone as a real laptop or desktop replacement, Android isn't the answer or the future. GNU Linux and Windows on ARM definitely makes a much better sense. We may not have smartphones running Windows on ARM, but we definitely see a few GNU Linux smartphone in existence like the Purism Librem 5 and the PINE64 PinePhone/PinePhone Pro.

As a tech enthusiast and Linux user I'm doubtful that Android will ever be able to replace my main operating system. I'm not at all happy with the Android equivalents for some of the programs that I use regularly. That being said, I have decided to buy a lapdock for my mobile office instead of either a Chromebook, budget Windows laptop, or tablet. My mobile office needs rarely extend beyond word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email and Android is well suited for this.

Motorola has started again with it's "ready for" desktop mode. LG has an okay one from last years phones. Allegedly TCL phones also have a pretty good desktop mode. I hope they continue to update them. Crazy what phones can do now

Dex can and has replaced my Chromebook. However I still need a Windows laptop. I am working on that, but I still need to process RAW photos

Do you know the intel equivalent to S20 FE? Just trying to estimate the capability of S20 FE, whether it would be enough for me when using DEX. Thank you.

All I want to fully swap is access to outlook in full desktop version

It's not a true Windows laptop/desktop replacement for me since DeX is still incapable of running AAA softwares and games. But as a portable pocket PC when travelling light with a lapdock, DeX is super useful.

Except for storage space, my cell phone has better specs than my last desktop. My desktop only had a dual core processor with 3gb of memory. But it did have a nice 500gbs of storage. My cellphone only came with 16gb (still almost triple the storage of an iMac)

I think Microsoft should be watching this space. A version of Windows that does this for all Android devices would be ideal for most people. Apple has showed with their M1, that the arm architecture can be used for most desktop tasks, if Android manufacturers can make something like Apple's M1, but better at power saving, this could be the future. I think people in the future will use this and foldable as their computer.
