You can still barely make out the words "Six Flags" on the sign outside what used to be Six Flags New Orleans. The park has been abandoned since Hurricane Katrina, but this week, the city has finally agreed on plans with a local developer to reimagine the property.

I’m sorry, but some baseball fields & a gym isn’t gonna save East New Orleans. Get someone that has the experience & the funds to reopen Jazzland as an amusement park, the way it was meant to be!

They just need to bring the park back to life because that’s sad the way it’s looking currently.

It's a ghetto.
New Orleans East is a ghetto. I was raised not far from that area. No one ever goes there any more.bthe entire community is so damaged. This is crazy!!

Its funny how these rich folks took a lost from the storm and chose to walk away and not rebuild. They cant run from natural disasters that would be unrealistic

In my humble opinion, At the end of the day it’s just another sports complex or hotel. Not anything unique like an amusement park like Jazzland. I also feel like this is not the ideal location for it. Locals won’t like it either. People don’t like big drastic changes people strive for blasts from the past. Im not even a local and I’m triggered! I find it sad that they will be completely removing the theme park. It’s okay to make minor adjustments but to completely remove something that was so good is not what needs to be done. Why not restore the park and incorporate a water park as well? The structures are made to withstand hurricanes look at them they are still standing!! It’s a sad ending in my opinion and more people should fight to get this park back into new Jazzland! I live in canada 🇨🇦 our roller coasters survive the heaviest ice storms and the coldest winters -20 and deep snow and we still reopen them ! I can probably find you at least 3 other sports complexes or hotels but can you find me at least one other amusement park? Surely it shouldn’t be that problematic to bring back what’s good? If I can fight for this I’m sure other people can.

It won’t happen there’s always talk about someone doing something with the property but, it never happens. It’s in a flood zone

Is this like in High Anxiety when Dr Ashley had those “big plans” to change the drapes in the psychotic game room ?

People want thrill rides, an old fashioned amusement park with a modern twist. Things like sports complex, movie set, etc should be built elsewhere. Much of the concrete sub structure supporting the major rides is still intact and undamaged.

This is false, property owner wants to demolish it but doesn’t have the money to do it.
