The best advice I have as a therapist and a parent of a child on the spectrum is to seek out your local Autism Society. This group was super helpful for me and my family in the beginning. I found a group of parents with children on the spectrum of various ages who I could talk to. They were able to help me and my husband cope and adapt. They directed us to local resources for my son. The organization provided free events for my kid and his sibling, and educational information pertaining to autism.
