Alien: Isolation for iOS Review | A Strange but Fantastic Port!

Alien: Isolation is perhaps not the first game that comes to mind when you think of obvious mobile ports - but obviously Feral Interactive is just built different. The real question though isn't why they did it, it's how did they do it so freakin' well?!

Two things. Phones are way more powerful then they are given credit for. Phones today are more powerful than the Nintendo switch which also runs the game very well. Also more games that seem not to make sense do make sense now. Backbone and razer Kishi make this possible. Most Apple Arcade games support controller because of how good the options are now. PS4 xbox, backbone. There so much out there now that make phones a very good way to play ports

This is absolutely insane honestly. It's really flexing how graphically powerful phones and tablets are getting. I tried this on my M1 iPad and it looks and plays really great

It’s crazy, I’ve been wanting to play this game again but at 60 fps and better graphics than the ps4 port. And since my ps5 just runs the ps4 version, I was stuck at 30fps and low quality textures.
This release and I simply cast to my tv, and play with my dual sense controller. Viola, everything I’ve been wanting. This is truly an amazing port that I will recommend to anybody interested.
Just hope that sega sees the interest that remains with this game, and either develops a sequel, or remasters the original

Tried on the iPad 2021, for anyone wondering, this one does have the performance mode. And that mode is 60FPS.

And don’t forget Alien Isolation is a ps4 game with all DLC included. The fact mobile went from below ps1 games to 10 fully voiced ps4 games in insane. I can definitely see ps5 games on Mobile within ps5s era..and its era barely started

Is Alien Isolation the first console horror game on mobile the ironically is in first person!. Not a bad start since the game is one of the best movie franchise adaptation.

I purchased this thing the second it allowed me to, I swear the best experience I had on mobile ever, outstanding game and outstanding port for mobile . If you are looking for a horror game this is just the best for you, I am enjoying this a lot more now from what I can remember from playing it on pc back in 2015 so for me it’s even better on mobile . Performance is outstanding on 13 pro max and it works pretty well on 7 plus, hell It’s playable even on 6s unfortunately I don’t know the performance on android devices, but I assume it will be ok on the latest Samsung phones . Overall mind blowing game I recommend this to everyone !

I've just found amazing thing and I think it's first game that's even supporting it. I've connected my iPad Pro (2020) with my USB-C monitor in which I do have connected my regular cheap mouse and keyboard and ... this game is support them! I can play this game like on a PC! Absolutely amazing.

Not sure why you think it is strange. It is the best of the Alien games by far. That includes the predator games. I spent about $60 for this game on steam in March. They just made it available to non-pc gamers for $16. They are covering every platform and I can play it at my leisure anytime or anywhere instead of getting emotionally and mentally prepared to sit and play on pc.

Most flagship phones these days are more powerful and have higher resolution than the Nintendo Switch, so this makes sense.

This is exactly what I’ve wanted ever since the iPhone 6s was released and they said it was as powerful as the ps3/xbox360 to play AAA games on an iPhone, and now we’re here! Now we just need a big catalog of AAA games in the App Store so we don’t need expensive consoles or computers since we’ve already got one in our pockets!😁

If it helps someone the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 claims to be an unsupported device (in the game app, it still appears downloadable and buyable at play store) but due to the chipset it runs and allows for the 3 modes shown in the video, battery saver, graphics and performance, battery saver seems to be 720p at 30fps, graphics mode is 1080p or sumn at 30 fps, and performance is 800p or sumn around at 60fps, but some digging lead me to think it is actually 1080p at 40fps.

However in android is possible to change the settings manually with an app and it can run at 1080p at 60fps, and its quite solid, it drops some frames when using the computers at sevastopol but otherwise its quite smooth.

Would recommend + you can modify a lot of stuff, i even deactivated TAA but wasnt worth it. It also seems to be running with some version of DXVK, which is quite interesting since the device might actually be translating DirectX 3D to Vulkan in real time which is insane to think of.

This should make possible a Quest port. MotherVR is ace but it would be cool to have a native version.

This right here is what Im talking about. If only companies would release more games like this i feel phone/tablets could really be a game changer for portable gaming and could shake up the industry. Imagine Dying light or Doom or something. If they run on the switch they totally could make it run on a phone so there are tons of games that could come to mobile.
