This would be my choice also. I especially like the fact it has a sturdy conventional automatic transmission over the CVT in the other two.

To counter your point about the infotainment system; I think it's great that Mazda, by design, keeps the driver less distracted from the road by forcing you to use the dial. You shouldn't be using it while driving and any passenger would easily be able to navigate the menus with the dial in the center console. It's a really nice design too, as you can use it as a dial or as a joystick. The HUD in my Mazda 6 is extremely helpful at keeping my eyes on the road as well. All systems Mazda put in place to keep the driver more engaged in their vehicles. You shouldn't be doing anything else while driving but driving.

You really can’t go wrong with any of the 3 but my choice would be the Mazda. I like the upscale touches, more powerful engine and available AWD even for the base engine. Even if it isn’t as efficient. Its just gorgeous and will age really well.

Really going to look at Mazda 3. I really like your “keep the car simple” mentality, it really resonates with me.

I love my Mazda3! I went from a truck to this and it's everything I wanted from a car. Sporty, minimalistic but still luxurious, quick, and reliable. It accelerates very nicely and rides smooth. 2500 miles deep on my 23 and loving every mile of it

Great choice. Having a traditional automatic rather than a CVT is a bonus. I also think that Mazda's paint finishes are superior.

Made in japan, awesome design, top-notch quality, great looking interior. Mazda is by far the best japanese car company.

Mazda 3 is the BMW 3 series made in Japan….Mazda3 is MUCH more attractive design than the H and the T…..no question. I think there is way the hell too much obsession on “infotainment systems” on cars…..it’s a car, not an ipad. Drive the car.

The biggest reason why I'd choose the Mazda3 over the other 2 is the Engine/Transmission like you talked about, plenty of power & the 6 speed automatic is what i like about it.

I am from Australia, we have a Mazda 3 2.5 auto soul red sedan on order . The reason we chose the Mazda is the same things you talk about in this excellent review.

I had a mazda 3 for 11 years and LOVED it. It was fun to drive, had a great interior even at a low trim level, and a great exterior look. And most importantly: car was safe as heck. Nailed a deer on a dark highway and walked away without even needing an ER visit.

Awesome car, Mazda 3 is a great choice. Corolla is close but not as sporty. Civic lost their reliability years ago and service at the dealership is horrible. All money grab.

An excellent choice! Hard to really go wrong with any of those three, and you got a great deal too. Congratulations on the 100K milestone! That's amazing - I think when I first stumbled upon your channel and subscribed, you just just over 200 people. It's a channel I've gotten to watch grow almost from the start, which has been neat, and appreciate how much you answer and interact with people too. Hope you continue to be successful with it!

Every Mazda I have owned has been excellent. The dealers too. My favorite was a 2006 Mazda 3 five door that I put 273, 000 miles on. The only things I ever did to it besides brakes was new front struts, a fuel pump and heat/AC fan. After all those miles, the suspension was still tight, interior nice, and it didn't burn a drop of oil. The new owner of it wrote me a year later and said he loved it and it was still running great. I am looking forward to a new Mazda 6.

I have 2020 Mazda 3 Premium and can tell you that it has been absolutely flawless. The 3 to me is in a class above these other two. I cross shopped a Acura ILX, Mercedes CLA and BMW Gran Coupe and the 3 is a far superior vehicle for less money. I’m thinking about buying it outright when the lease is up in 4 months. Thanks for the upload!

FWD, Timing Chain, Standard Transmission, Naturally Aspirated. Basic, reliable. Dedicated snow tires. Sounds exactly like the CX5 I bought for exactly the same reasons. Love that heads up display.

A few years back I bought a used 2020 Corolla with about 13, 000 miles on the clock. I buy low mileage used cars and I have had a great deal of good luck with them. I got the Corolla for an amazing price. Granted, my timing was excellent because it was just before the used car shortage that sent prices to the stratosphere. I ended up buying largely on price, which is really something I don't tend to do. I looked at the Mazda and the Civic. I loved them both, but I could not find a Honda for what I felt was a reasonable price, and there really wasn't a great selection of Mazdas at any price, and the ones I found were somewhere just south of the Civic pricewise. Strangely enough, I loved the color, celestite grey, and I very rarely find used cars in a color that I might actually order on a new car. So, cheaper, very low mileage, and a color I liked sold me on the Corolla. I guess you deal with what's at hand when shopping the used car market.

My last daily driver was a 2016 Maz 3 sport. Loved it. No issues in 90, 000 miles. Good luck and many safe miles.

I almost went with your previous recommendation for the Corolla (but non-hybrid). However I checked out the 3, liked it, and got a good price for it. I now had it for a couple weeks now and I love it. I'm glad to hear that you also went with the 3. It's definitely a looker, and fun to drive.

Thank you for sharing your own personal experience of buying your own car. It helps a lot, especially your reasoning why you bought it over the honda civic or the Toyota Corolla. I respect that honesty a lot. Congrats on reaching 100 k subs! Well deserved!
