Why do you call 'z' as 'eset'?

In equation 2, f'(xy) represents partial differentiation of f(xy) wrt x but in equation 3, f'(xy) represents partial differentiation of f(xy) wrt y. Hence both the f'(xy) are different than each other then how can you eliminate them after division of eq2/eq3 ????
