In our society, most people have to have jobs. But what qualifies as a job? How do we determine who is part of the labor force? How has globalization impacted the labor force? We've all heard terms like outsourcing and offshoring, what do those mean? What is a gig economy? Let's get a closer look now!

Check out "Is This Wi-Fi Organic?", my book on disarming pseudoscience!

I am a 20+yr HVAC master tech. I am in no way worried about my section of the labor force changing. At the end of the day a person who can turn a wrench and has mechanical aptitude combined with the technical knowledge in my trade will always have a job. Furnaces and air conditioners will always be here and will always need a skilled tech to work on them. Even the pandemic didn't give me a day off unless I needed it. Climate control is essential to survival in many places. Anyway GREAT VIDEO SIR! I enjoy your content immensely 👍

So how would the slave labor of prisoners in the US apply to this?

Great explanation Professor Dave! One thing I have always wondered...how does the Bureau know a person has "given up" looking for a job? Let's say I leave a job and do not qualify for or do not choose to file for unemployment benefits. Am I in the "given up" category until I file for Social Security?

Thank you for this. Been a really bad day professor Dave and I’ve been watching your medical shows because I’m going to Nursing I’m not sure if it’s moving effectively. I’m an older Nursing and I wanted to give up. I haven’t talk to my son in several weeks and it’s kind of depressing, so life is about relationships, right. Maybe you can Do a little tidbit on the relationships in out life’s. rLOL Thanks again! 💪🏻✅

So I was a full time premed student and worked full time as an RN. I would still have been considered in the labor force, right?

Otherwise it’s odd that being a full time student means you’re not in the labor force.

Employers: they just graduated! They must be intelligent, productive, and have a high work ethic!
Me: college has taught me nothing and i am now in debt...

So for the last five years I wasn't in the labor force, but now I am again? Very interesting. I would have expected military to count, considering how much more labor they do compared to the average worker.

Did anyone realise the soviet star in The opening well done comrade

Edit: I didn’t mean that Dave was pushing an agenda I just saw a red star at the beginning of a video about labour forces so I thought of the soviet star since I’m not familiar with Dave’s content.

Talking about labor without discussing class struggle isn't anything remotely close to an adequate explanation of the concept of labor.

Here in south Florida, it is very hard to find employees. Young people also do not want to work hard and feel entitled. They want a piece of the business without investing after tax dollars and if business fails, they will just leave.
