Honestly, now that I'm rewatching victorious knowing the theories of why cat acts the way she does, I can definitely see the character digression as the show goes on. There's an idea around her character that she deals with a lot of trauma at the hands of her family, mostly her brother. He is said in the theories to emotionally, sexually, and possibly physically abuse her due to his mental state, and her parents aren't the most affectionate to what she is going through. So as the show goes on, she is supposedly put on antidepressants and that why she is so perky (there are a few mentions of her taking her medication), and her way of coping with the trauma is to regress to a more childlike mindset (carrying around stuffed animals, thinking the simplest of things are funny). She talks about her brother in the third person due to a disassociation with her abusive family member (common in ones who have been abused by relatives, you often hear them say, for example, "my brother", rather than a name). There is a scene in the season 4 episode "the worst couple", where Beck and Jade are fighting in the janitor's closet and cat is there. During the fight she covered her ears and repeatedly says, "I'm under my bed", her safe spot at home for the issues going on. In one of the season 1 episodes, (izombie), she talks to Trina about pulling over to apply her lip gloss, Trina then responds by saying she should talk less, and cat says that her dad says the same thing. It's also an explanation of why Jade gets jealous of any girl being near beck, except for cat. We all thought her reacting the way she did was because she was dumb, and her stories and sense of humor were funny. Turns out there might have been a pretty sad background to this character 😞
