This song (Armstrong's) used to make me really sad, similar to the ways Somewhere Over the Rainbow and You Are My Sunshine-do. They're songs that when taken at face value feel fairly innocuous but when are examined more closely, are felt more deeply, they hit in this really melancholy way. Then this came along and I am left thinking, in spite of all the present day troubles, yeah, it is. I still have hope and see the potential for it to be... This is such a special performance and such a reverent piece. Dear Jon Batiste, you're an alchemist and a deeply needed balm. Thank you for all you give.
