A deluxe box set edition (5-CD/1-Blu-ray) features the original album (remastered), plus special remixes from the original Monster producer Scott Litt, a disc of previously unreleased demos, as well as a complete live 1995 performance captured in Chicago.

The accompanying Blu-ray offers Monster in both hi-resolution audio and 5.1 Surround Sound, a host of video content: the 90-minute film Road Movie, which documents R.E.M.’s 1995 tour, and all six music videos from Monster.

The collection is packaged in a five-and-a-half-inch portfolio book, featuring liner notes by journalist Matthew Perpetua—with new interviews from band members—and archival photographs.

Expanded editions, offering the original album and the remixed version, are available on two 180-gram vinyl LPs or two CDs, both featuring reimagined cover art by longtime R.E.M. designer Chris Bilheimer.

The remastered album is also available as a standalone 180-gram vinyl LP, with the original 1994 Monster artwork.

Digital editions of the album mirror the complete deluxe audio content—remastered, remixed and live— available across all streaming and download platforms. Digital breakouts will also offer the remastered and remixed album in hi-resolution (88.1/24).

Αξεπέραστοι και μοναδικοί. Ποτέ δε σταμάτησα να το ακούω.

Is it just me or does part of the guitar riff remind anyone else of "King of Birds"? Good job 👍

My favorite song on the original, but this version is far more powerful.

Still wish Scott Litt had produced later albums, except the very last one. Someone that worked out well. Accelerate, no.

Man, I just listened to the whole album, and I have to say that the only thing this remix does is highlight just how good the original album was in the first place. The remixes just sound weird. The band is squished and compressed into a dynamics-free ball of buzzy noise, and the alternate vocal takes sound like early run-throughs. They're also mixed way too loud and the end result sounds like karaoke.
Part of appeal of Monster is the weird abstract "wrongness" of the whole thing. It's supposed to be muddy and indistinct. This brittle digital re-do completely misses the point of the whole thing.
Let's face it, R.E.M. are not Neil Young - they don't have a treasure trove of unreleased, unheard gems lurking in the vault. Pretty much everything they did, they put out at the time. This remix is just a commercial move to try and get diehard fans to fork out for an album they already bought 25 years ago. Beatles Anthology it ain't. And this is coming from a long-time fan of the band.
