This was so helpful, and probably saved me hours of finding where to navigate to make the right setting changes for someone not savvy in this department.

Worked perfectly with BGW210! Used TP-Link Deco Mesh System (X55) (3 units).

Important to make sure you are using a ethernet cable connected to modem and PC.

1. Log into ATT modem using any browser. (192.168.1.254).

2. Disable Packet Filters.

3. Go into the firewall advanced tab and make sure all settings are set to off and then save.

4. Select allocation mode to IP Pass-through, then manually enter your routers MAC address (can be found on router) then save.

5. Make sure to turn off 2.4GHz wireless along with 5GHz signal.

6. Restart your modem.

Should be all set to plug in your new/current router!

Hope this helps somebody out there!

YOU'RE A LIFE-SAVER! THANK YOU, BROTHER!

Be advised, guys, sometimes it might take a few minutes for your router to hook up and be up & running completely!

We'll see as I get my TP-Link Mesh system setup this week but I appreciate the level of detail and the screen shots.

Got my first independent router. Your instructions were clear and right on. I had no issues. EXCELLENT!

Bro...I could cry. I've been at it for 2 days. The Forums didn't help. Asus wouldn't help. I've done just about anything you can think of. I've watched plenty of other videos and tried many things. So many things I thought I bricked my Router....The thing that fixed it all was setting the IP Passthrough to Dynamic....That was it! Thank God, I was losing my damn mind!

I hardly sub to anyone and I don't know if you're active or not anymore but dude you earned it!

Super helpful video. I picked yours because it was the shortest and was pleased to find it to be the best. Most of all, I'm glad you didn't harangue me to "like and subscribe, like and subscribe, click the notification bell and leave comments below...." Ugh, how annoying that is becoming now. So I'm sure to like and subscribe for you! Great job.

So you did a pass through on the bgw210 modem, I am looking at a netgear r7000 to run everything through it .

What’s the difference between this and putting the router in AP mode while connected to the modem LAN? Thanks!

Question, can I you still use the BGW210 as a router to connect AT&T’s WiFi extenders or does the process completely funnel all the internet to the 3rd party router

Looks very helpful. Questions from a newbie. I inherited a builder-installed home-wifi when I bought the home from a seller. Would the existing smart-home things (ring, smartswitches, smartlocks, etc.) still stay on the old network? Also, what happens if I do not turn off the wifi on AT&T router besides creating a new wifi network? Does it drop speed / other interference, etc.?
