THIS is the $99 Retro Handheld You've Been Waiting For (Retroid Pocket 2+ Review)

This is the retroid pocket 2 +. It runs android, it plays all your old retro games, it plays some of the newer retro systems like N64 and dreamcast, even some GAMECUBE and PSP. It's freaking awesome, but it has a few issues that you should know about. And I love it to bits. Let me tell you why!

Don't think I've heard narration that fits a channel name so well

With all due respect, this is my first video watched from this channel, and I was thrown back to the cartoon days from the narrator's voice. Definitely subscribing just on that alone. :P Can't wait to get my retro colored RP2+ soon! <3 Thank you for your review!

You earn a sub, sir. The nerd schtick annoyed me to start with, but your commitment to it and the good coverage of the device won me over. Bravo!

Finally got mine after waiting 2 months. It was worth the wait. Puts my Rg351mp to shame. Been enjoying my gamecube games quite a bit. =D

Having decided to buy one of these next month, I've been obsessed with watching videos about it.

This was a pretty good video about the device. The last one I watched was some guy that had never even looked at an emulator before. He said he spent 5 hours just trying to load a single ROM (after learning that he actually had to find a ROM in the first place), then spent half the video complaining how he essentially bought a DIY device not realizing it didn't just come with games out of the box. Followed be him telling people not to get it if they wanna use it to play games because it's "too much work to set up"....

Not sure if mentioned yet, but Launchbox has updated for Android and it’s flawless, and quite excellent. I’m using it on my GPD and intend to when I update to this Retroid unit.
Nice coverage btw!

I like how descriptive you are about the form factor. I don't know how to put it, but it just seems like more than the other video I've seen on this device. Kinda wanna get one now, but that will have to wait for my end of year bonus lol

Your phone's home screen matches your aesthetic so well. Awesome to see another Android user!

Amazing video! As a first time viewer I want to compliment how in-depth this review was, while also adding your own funny flair. I can see your channel doing numbers from all the hard work you put into it. With all that said, please do a video on setting up DIG! Thanks for the great content that I can't wait to binge, keep it up.

You deserve way more subscribers. I have no idea why you have so few. Hopefully the algorithm gods will bless you soon

Excellent and in-depth review, as usual. It looks like a very serviceable device for the price.

Oh man, I love the retroid launcher. it absolutely sucks that yours is borked. Glad it has options, though, and you can still enjoy the system. I woul love it if you did a Dig set up video, tho

You sound exactly like your profile picture and it reminded me of my cartoon network childhood days 🤓

Excellent video.
This is the RP2+ in a nutshell.
It's good enough for some early 3D consoles like PS1, PSP, N64, and Dreamcast, but also can even be stretched into a little gamecube and ps2. Another great use of this console is playing native Android ports of classic games. Many of the final fantasy games have native Android ports FROM SquareEnix WITH controller support. Games like Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3 and CronoTrigger run VERY well. Now most of these you could emulate, but some have had upscaling/ slight improvements to UI and audio. Some of them are worth the cost.

So I've had my Retroid Pocket 2+ for about a week now, and got it all set up. It is definitely a fantastic device, and the ability to have 250+ games from my childhood, classics, and many I missed out on, is incredible - it's like having a family game library and does everything up to PS1 and Dreamcast exceptionally well. GameCube hit and miss.

I would say, I would enjoy a guide to DIG on Android. I have not had issues with the Retroid launcher and kinda like it, but would like a good option for backup or if I want to try something new! I haven't seen any recent guides on DIG for the Retroid, and I'd love to have you walk through it while we share some diet root beers!

Fully agree with you about replacing the left joystick with a slider for increased portability!

Wow, I just ordered my RP2+ today and now I see this video and I'm even more excited now. I just sold my RP2. I thought that one was also great, but I'm really sold because of the performance improvement and touch screen the RP2+ has. I used my RP2 a lot as a home console. Just like you demonstrated I connected it to my TV and used my 8bitdo (snes version) as a controller. I never again want my retro console to be without hdmi output. It's brilliant! I still like to know how you managed that streaming stuff, like "the Snitch" stuff you demonstrated.
Anyways, thanks a lot for the great vid. Really enjoyed the review about this great device, narrated by a guy who sounds like he's got a terrible cold. ;-)
