Oh man demon farts congealing into manes is sort of dope - not only thematically but also as a mechanic that demons can literally kill and eat stuff and form manes out of it!

Still pretty metal that who you are in life doesn't matter when you go to the afterlife. Reeks of predestination, which is pretty interesting.

This is why you need Slaadi mercenaries. Acid not an issue, and they quite enjoy the tangy sting as manes dissolve in their stomachs. When eaten, they don;t come back.

If you could stuff one (or more) into a fragile container, you'd be able to throw it to break on impact, releasing them and potentially creating a useful diversion. 🤔

I have a soft spot for manes because the first BEG i did for my party was an “elevated” mane with special deception powers that was a servant of Zuggtmoy and trying to take over a town posing as a priest of Chauntea. It was fun to do.

"Something has to be done about all the demon on demon violence" - blithering of a Manes demon that was once a hippy with a LOT of dark secrets, even it does not know why it says that or the fact that it's speaking.

Most high-level players think they are invincible and think they can ignore weak monsters. I had a player have his character go to a demon's Abyssal retreat to kill him there, a place he was lord over. He looked at the character and said "Really? You came here?" The movement all over the area were Manes moving in on the character, he laughed until he realized the ceiling in the area was so low it was almost a 2D map and the number of Manes was overwhelming. He was killed by the AD&D equivalent of a swarm of papercuts cutting non-vital areas. He made it to the demon twice only to have that demon giggle and take a few steps back, creating a new wall of Manes. All that demon did was watch and taunt with his arms folded. Gauntlet video game voice "Player Ego has been wounded... badly." Oh, and that demon was a Balor I based upon the Lord of the Rings books' demon of shadow and flame... it was cooler than how the movies portrayed it. It was only in the Prime because it was bored after killing the wizard who summoned it (and messed up the control part). I do have fun with my Chaotic bad guys, especially when they are intelligent and-or cruel.
