Loved his character in the IT movie in the 90's

The fact that Doink "Matt Osbourne" was in the inaugural WM shows that he was wrestling a lot longer than we previously thought.

Legend has it Doink is still in the WWE headquarters, as we saw on camera at Money In The Bank 2020

I think Doink the clown is one of those underappreciated wrestlers that contribute to the company and goes away on song yeah there may have been some issues like with a family accusing WWE of not helping him when he had his drug problem stuff but he was entertaining a Times and provide humor where it was needed that's what clowns are for so you can say hey his legacy wasn't all too bad.

Sometime in the mid 1990s my dad worked for the Minnesota National Guard Armory who often hosted local wrestling events and me and my cousin would go and help setup and take down the chairs (both in our early teens) and one time Doink The Clown was one of the wrestlers so I got to see (one of the Doinks) him wrestle for like probably 200 people in a small Minnesota Armory. (Also got to see Nailz)

Borne was awesome in that gimmick his problems killed the run. No one else could pull it off well at all.

To be honest I never found Doink scary. Then again I never found clowns scary at all. I did find his face run better than many people think.

I was 11 when Matt Borne debuted as the evil Doink. I can confirm that he was legitimately creepy.

Don't know if this is a bit of trivia or not, but the Doink character was at least once played by a man named Joey Marella.

I'm not into wrestling AT ALL, but my ex was a former wrestler and wrote for a wrestling publication, so he often watched it. I mentioned to him while it was on, how I once met a bunch of WWE wrestlers, including a guy ho played a silly clown character. He informed me who Joey was, but apparently he was never credited with playing "Doink".

To make a long story short, I would up backstage at WWE when I was 15, along with my best friend. We met loads of wrestlers, and I'll never forget how lovely Randy Savage was. A total sweetheart, and 1 of just 2 of them who didn't hit on, or get creepy with, us underage girls.

The other guy who was considerate and respectful, we encountered as he was about to leave. We asked "Are you a wrestler?" and he replied that he was mostly a referee. My friend asked him who played the clown, because we hadn't seen him backstage. He just kinda laughed, and then my friend noticed....he had a bit of white face paint near his ear (which he's obviously missed). So, we had our answer, though he denied it.

I have an incredible memory so never forget his name, and when I told my bf at the time, he told me that Joey was in fact the son of a very famous classic wrestler. And he died just a year or 2 after we met him.
