It's so silly, but this trailer makes me so emotional even today. The summer Pokemon Go came out was the best summer of my life. Not necessarily because of the game, but because of how many people I reconnected with over it. People I hadn't talked to since elementary school who I would randomly run into while out playing. I'd see them at random social events, but seeing them as an adult and so excited about the things that we use to bond over long ago was just such a bizarre experience. Like everyone went back to being 10 again, with their gameboy and their link cable on the playground. I would get out of work on 2nd shift at around 10pm during the week and with a group of work buddies head downtown near the water front every night and there would be hundreds of people down there all through the night just talking, catching pokemon, and having a good time. Random older people would stop us and ask us about the game because they wanted to get involved, or older ladies would let us know they feel safer going out on their nightly run with all these people around. They no longer felt it was risky to be out after dark. It might have been a bit broken, but it was definitely something special that brought people together and I hope to experience something else like it some day.

I legitimately cry every time I watch this. There’s just something so awesome about people coming together like that and being excited and united that gets my blood rushing. Like, in my nostalgic childhood mind, this shit looks like utopia if it were real, and I can’t help but get emotional over that idea.
