110 lbs is fine for a phone, I think Zack from JerryRigEverything may have gotten a lemon? Or else he’s freakishly strong

Finally!!! One guy breaks a phone and everyone talks about it but no one else wanted to see it it was a fluke

standard drop test used is a rotating container were u cant see the phone, which basically by design allows the phone being tested to avoid chances of having a direct impact on its corner or a flat impact to its front or back, effectively giving the phone the safest fall possible... eg its intentionally designed to try avoid damaging the phone in the test... same problem exists for the bendgate testing, the iphone 6 test concentrates the force at the weakest point, the updated test avoids applying any pressure to the weakest point and instead uses 2 pressure points to help distribute the load across the phone, so it cant concentrate at its weakest point... in other words the test is trying to maximize the load possible without damaging the phone... one has to ask why the testing process was changed to one that is intentionally designed to assist the phone passing a durability test.

I was so concerned after the videos I had seen on the 15 Pro Max but this definitely at least gave me some peace of mind

As with anything that'll drive up the hype, it's not an issue with all the phones, just some. Like when apple had bendgate or Samsung exploding note 7s, it's in reality only for a few units-otherwise I expect most of the phones that people will have will be completely fine and work with no issues.

If multiple people are having issues and finding the same results breaking the back glass, its an issue of inconsistent quality and not a few bad phones going out. This really only proves that the pool of phones going out is of varying quality, which isn't good

I thought the test was pretty rough watching the phone drop from the top to bottom of the drop-suitcase. I was alarmed to hear there was a concrete pad at the bottom! And then fell out of my chair to read it was done 100 NOW THAT IS A TEST. Yeah, new Iphone passed.

This is how you do testing. Not by dropping a single iPhone randomly on the street. The drop tests you can find on YouTube bring nothing to the table. Their results are all anecdotical, there's nothing you can learn by watching them. I'm happy to see that there are channels like this one who are at least thinking a little about a meaningful testing procedure. Now that's something that can be useful.

Nothing can withstand your mom sitting on it

Dropping it from 10 inches isnt realistic. Most drops happen at around 3 feet. Also the angle that the drop test rig you guys have seems to drop the phone in a consistent way. Most drops have the phoen land on a corner and shatter the screen.

Of course all phones break easily.

Always buy a screen protector and a phone case.

Damn the back is still glass. Idk why I thought it was titanium so no more back shattering

Now please test for the thermals. I’ve been thinking about buying an iPhone 15 pro. But im waiting to see if the thermals are as big of an issue as some have made it out to be.

2014 test is no comparison. Two completely different tests.

It's 2023 why are we comparing it to results from a 2014 test without any context. These video is literally just clickbait

This report provides a more accurate perspective on the drop test. It might be best to steer clear of YouTubers who conduct drop tests while also receiving sponsorships from case or cover manufacturers. There's a possibility that these YouTubers could exaggerate the fragility of the phones, which may not reflect reality.

JerryRigEverything broke it by focusing most of the pressure on a very small surface, since he used his thumbs. It is less durable than other phones, but I doubt it will be an issue.

How does Consumer Reports not understand basic physics. Your bend test used two points spread out. Jerry Rig concentrated both thumbs in the center. You did a different test, so you proved nothing. We still need a replication of Jerry's test. He could do it with his bare thumbs, I'm sure he used much less than 110 pounds of force.
