As an Asian, I can totally relate with the experience of saying “I love you” especially to your dad. Fear not, people with emotionally repressed dads. They are absolutely teachable but you have to take the initiative. My dad only started saying “I love you” to me when I initiated it during one of our phone calls after my mom passed away in my 20s. The first few times he sounded like he was about to cry whenever he said it (maybe he did but didn’t tell me). Now we always end our calls with an “I love you”. :)

My father passed away in 2003 when I was 5, its been like 16 years. Being a child at that age, I don't have too many memories about him. But I am very proud of him, his hard work during his life helps all of my siblings to go to college although he never had a chance to see us graduate. despite my mom couldn't get a job to take care of our grandparent. I may not know him very well, but all of my memories about him is his kindness and love.

My family is middle eastern. So when I went to my father today and I kissed his head, held him tight, and told him happy Father’s Day and that I loved him, he looked down and said “ok ok stop”. But once I stopped, he looked away and mumbled “thanks”.

He is so stubborn and distant because of his upbringing and traditions, but I will totally do this more cuz he deserves it.❤️

I lost my dad almost 13 years ago, I don’t talk about him because my heart start to feel very sad. I wish also I had the maturity that I have now to say I love him and treat him better, I was very immature. I really miss him and I wish my kids would have had the chance to meet him, he would have probably played with them a lot and teach them a lot of science and spoiled them very much. Miss you dad!! And happy Father day for you and all the parents in the world and the good one in heaven!

My dad too, he passed away for cancer 1 year ago.
And wow, my dad was born January 21st as well. What a coincidence! He was such a generous person. He taught me everything. And yes, sometimes I do have the feeling that he is sending me messages from the sky, as well. On the other hand my wound is still open, and I feel so weak sometimes. Like, when I hear talking about dad’s day I almost cry. I miss him so much. By the way I am very glad that you got pregnant, and I’m sure that your dad is so happy for you right now. I know everyone’s mostly talking about the loss of their dad, but I just wanted to talk about how amazing my dad is! He gets stressed very easily but even when he’s stressed he tries to make the whole family happy. He uses a lot of money on us and tells us he loves us probably 20 times a day xD He’s the best dad in the world and he deserves to have a day off to celebrate himself :)
