This is Why You Get a Random Single Long Hair #skin. Hair cells, the tiny structures nestled within hair follicles, undergo a series of distinct phases of growth to ensure the continuous renewal and maintenance of the hair shaft. These phases, collectively known as the hair growth cycle, are essential for regulating the length, thickness, and density of hair across different regions of the body. Understanding the intricacies of this cycle sheds light on the dynamic nature of hair growth and sheds light on the importance of each phase: Anagen Phase: The anagen phase marks the active growth phase of the hair cycle, during which hair cells rapidly proliferate and differentiate within the hair follicle. This phase can last anywhere from two to seven years, depending on genetic factors and environmental influences. Hair cells in the anagen phase are highly metabolic and undergo continuous division, resulting in the elongation of the hair shaft. The duration of the anagen phase determines the maximum length that a hair strand can achieve. Catagen Phase: Following the anagen phase, hair follicles transition into the catagen phase, a brief intermediate period lasting approximately two to three weeks. During this phase, the growth activity of hair cells slows down, and the lower portion of the hair follicle undergoes structural regression. The hair shaft detaches from the blood supply and surrounding cells, preparing for the next phase of the cycle. Telogen Phase: The telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, represents a period of quiescence for hair cells, lasting around three to four months. During this phase, the hair follicle remains inactive, and the hair shaft is anchored in place but not actively growing. Approximately 10-15% of hair follicles are in the telogen phase at any given time. Shedding of hair strands primarily occurs during this phase, as new hair cells begin to form beneath the surface. #hair #derm

How fascinating. I always wondered why I would find these single long blonde hairs. Fascinating because I have dark skin, and brown hair.

I had one long 8 inch hair perfectly spiralled on my chin. I thought it was a bump until I pulled. And it stretched down to my chest. I yanked it out and it grows regularly ever since and so fast. 😅

I have a couple - one on each eyebrow, in roughly the same spot on each side.

They spark much joy and would make me look like Fake Crash if I styled them that way

I didn't know it's possible for hair to stay in growing phase. So interesting. I also wonder what are the causes of premature hair graying. Could you make material about this phenomenon?

first time i noticed this, was on my girl classmate's cheek, tried to get rid of it, thought it was anything but the actual hair, just growing. second time was my mom, on her leg. and finally, it came to me, on my elbow. it was the fastest hair on my entire body that grew so much in so little time that was given to it. i pulled it out everytime i showered

Now this reminded me because I have one on my arm but I pull it everytime. Then, I just realize now it did not grow back anymore.

The only one I’ve ever had was so annoying because IT WAS IN MY NOSE I didn’t want to pull it out, so I just cut it and luckily now it’s gone so yay

Thank you for thus video. I've experienced that as well, above my eyebrow and on my chest. How weird. I have also seen it on other people.

I wonder if we could simulate that growth phase on our hair to make it longer? If someone does it I want credit

I have a long hand hair that I had in 2019, and it just came back in 2024. It fell off last night, a tragedy.
