Fun fact: I grew up watching this movie and always laughed about how comically she gets pulled through the window. I just learned today that my boss of 5 years is Ronee's brother in real life 🤣 I texted him "your sister was in NOES?!" And he was like "yep!"

Wes Craven was against this ending, he preferred an actual happy ending but with the girls still singing ominously. It was actually kind of perfect.

I think they were betting on the initial shock and surprise to mask the poor effect. It looks like they sped up the doll going through the window as well. This was probably pretty effective when this film came out or maybe on a VHS where pausing and slowing the video down wasn't practical. Nowadays we can make a clip of it to dissect and obviously that will rob the intended effect.

I always considered that ending scene kind of chilling...remember that this was a low budget horror film from the 80's and the special effects might not be the best.I'll take this effect over the CGI crap in today's horror flicks.
