I love how reserved Marios sprites are, he isn't wanting to fight, he wants to talk to Luigi, but Luigi is past wanting to talk. His sprites are bombastic and active, he's tired of being the timid one, he wants to be seen finally.

At 1:15 if you listen to Luigi's voice you can hear a little part that actually is mimicked in the Act 4 of ALL STARS

Not only IHY Luigi does that, the same thing happens to Mr Virtual (Paranoia), Omega (Act 2) and Costume Mario (The End).

Something interesting I've noticed is that Mario (the player) seems to have an opponent-esque charting. (The opponent goes first & the player parrots the opponents charting afterwards usually.) He's also on the opposite side the player usually is. (Though that may be just because Mario stands to the left of Luigi in this scenario.)
