Government targets to have 10,000 EV charging stations by 2025

The government aims to set up 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Malaysia by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Development Plan 2021-2030, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Lim Ban Hong told the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

Possible Scenario: One crony company will get the contract for installing 10000 ev stations by 2025 with a silent soft loan from govt. By 2025 90% of contract sum will be disbursed and 30 stations will be ready with 15 not operable. Government will extend completion period and pay extra funds to support and possibly would have guaranteed repayment of the loans.

Government, use your brain for once. Just pass a new law requiring every gas station to have at least 1 charging stations by 2025 and give them extra money if they build more then 1 charging stations at their gas stations.

Now you don't have to worry about maintenance and coverage. How come you can't think of this?

why not have a made in malaysia EV or EV hybrid? if value for money sure demand high! there is a US company Hyliion that makes huge haulers/semis that are basically EV/CNG hybrid maybe this could scale down in Malaysia so no need wait for charging points to crop up nationwide? The CNG fuelled onboard generator only role to top up/recharge the batteries and super easy/fast to top up CNG bah...

After reading the comments, I doubt 10 thousand charging station be readily available in three years or for that matter every Malaysians can ditch their fuel-consuming cars to EVs with ease. Not to mention the transparency and accountability of this plan of theirs. Sounds like another excuse for million ringgit kickbacks. Also, a Tesla car ain’t cheap let alone affordable, pro-environment people can take this L🤣
