Mother Nature HATES woodworkers | Wood veneer and epoxy

In today’s video, I show you how to build durable and long lasting outdoor furniture. In building this mailbox, I used walnut hardwood, white oak wood veneer, Baltic birch plywood, and epoxy. The combination of wood veneer, epoxy, and plywood maximizes the durability and longevity of this woodworking project, and the techniques shown can be applied to all outdoor furniture. In order to adhere the wood veneer to the plywood, I used a vacuum press to get even consistent clamping pressure. This project offers a great opportunity to enhance your woodworking skills while creating a functional and elegant piece that will surely make you the neighborhood's envy.

Tough decision but I'm going to go with the seal, it had a nice lingering sound to it. Excellent project and video as usual! You've given me a lot to think about for my future outdoor builds. And I think your mailbox is nicer than 75% of my projects, your stuff is so clean.

Wow that’s cool. Had no idea that was a thing. Putting veneer on like that. Super cool!

Valve for me.
Great build, Shane! That Missouri joke got me real good too 😂
Looking forward to seeing you do some bent lamination projects 👍

Seal, valve, not sure, never tried veneer, but good think you have it held down with concrete. That mailbox is good enough to steal! Well done.

Great video and project as always. Used deck stain sealer I had leftover from deck. I think the UV resistance is what has made it last. Plastic collar on the ground to protect from string trimmer.

Love your jokes, I’m glad I stumbled on your channel! Thanks for making good content

Who knew that seals burp… An addition layer of protection for your mailbox post is a product called Postsaver. It’s applied to the post at the soil level and it really does delay inevitable rot of the wooden post.

Seal, I literally have nothing to ask or anything but I can boost for the algorithm

The valve. I don’t know how you make miters look so good, mine never fit like that. This was a really cool idea, I have been wanting to try veneer and hadn’t considered using a vacuum back so thanks for the tip and inspiration. The final product looks great buddy!

Seal! Dude, this is the nicest mailbox I’ve ever seen, I love how it complements your planters. I haven’t ever considered using epoxy for veneer but it makes a lot of sense for outdoors. Thanks again for all the tips, and of course the jokes!

Seal, definitely... and hey, a fellow Virginia-dweller!
I'd love to try something like that for my own house, but wonder what the HOA would make of my personal aesthetic, which clashes with the "use a big-box pre-made T-format post and stain it the same as everyone else" buffoonery. I think the oil-based finish is best since you'll be able to retouch it over time as it weathers out.
Question: Did you make that pump yourself? If you did, I'd love to see a video on how to do that!

In your video I noticed a pair of red roller stands. I was wondering where you got them from and the brand name of them. I am in need of some and those ones look pretty good.
