How SAP Technology and AI simplify the Detection of Giant Hogweed

The giant hogweed is an extremely poisonous plant. These weeds must be eradicated, but they are difficult to detect. Many regions in which the plant grows are difficult to reach, which makes it very difficult for humans to discover the plant at all and then exterminate it.
In collaboration with ProDrone, we replaced manual efforts with an entirely automatic end-to-end process. While ProDrone provided high-res images of large areas of land, we combined this data with image recognition technology and trained a neural network. The result: Our custom software can now detect Giant Hogweed with increasing precision.
