New Orleans Weather | Hot with a few storms on the first day of summer

For the first day of summer, we are hot with a few storms around. A disturbance with enhanced moisture is riding around the edge of our heat ridge to our north. This will enhance our chance for a few storms Tuesday morning and afternoon. If you're not getting rain it'll be hot with highs in the mid-90s. The record today is 96, and the forecasted high is around 94.

Wednesday looks similar with a warm morning around 80 degrees followed by a blistering afternoon in the middle 90s and a few spotty thunderstorms in the late afternoon. A few high wind gusts will be possible with the cooling downpours.

The big high-pressure dome centers over us again at the end of the week which means temperatures will approach 100 degrees in the afternoon by Friday.

We will likely tie or break daily record high temperatures for at least a couple of days this week. Record highs at the Kenner airport range between 96 and 101 through the week, and we'll be in that range, especially by Wednesday and lasting through Saturday.

On Monday, the high pressure finally loosens its grip and scattered rain returns with highs in the lower 90s.
