You dont have to buy a car with TR plate. You can buy cars that sell "from foreigner to foreigner". This way has some other disadvantages but you pay half. Its a tough desicion.

Its amazing to see people like you reside in our country. We need more people like you who respects our culture and country. You even took an extra step to learning the language which is quiet hard. Good Luck!

Mick you should've taken the car to an expert inspection (about body paintwork, chasis and airbag inspection). I advise you to get ur car checked by an expert to see if it was damaged beforehand or not

As usual Mick and Trudi, you have presented a fair overview of the crazy pricing practices.

You transferred the money before purchasing. The gallery owner may be reliable, but not everyone is the same. Therefore, send the money while waiting your turn at the notary.

What a big honor for us to see you advertise our homeland Turkey. I have known British people (considering you as British for your accent) for a long time -especially Scottish people- and I have so many good experiences. I wish you a long, healthy, and happy life with your acquaintances. Greetings from Ankara!

Cars are very expensive in Turkiye compared to other countries. Imported cars are 5-10x more just like all items like new phones and electronic items etc. I was privileged to be able to travel there last year and got to see a few places with my wife and bro in law to drive and visit family over there visiting many places. Great history and beautiful places to visit. Highways are best in the world. I will be back. Enjoy.

There are many expensive brands and big SUV’s on the roads in Türkiye, so they must have a high priority in people’s lives.
Last summer we saw exhibited on the central square of Ayvalik a new and big all-Turkish luxury SUV named TOGG.
It looked really beautiful and impressive.
When I googled about the specs and the price, I got the impression that it cost the same as the small Suzuki Jimny. For four times the car.
I wonder why people don’t buy these and other Turkish cars in stead and support home land production.

Isn't it incredible how horrific the tax levels are in Turkey?

You made a good choice. Renaults are like the vegetation of Turkey, spare parts are cheap and available everywhere.

2 different fuses are as follows;
1) MANDATORY TRAFFIC INSURANCE covers the damage of the other party in case you are at fault in the accident.
2) VEHICLE (kasko) INSURANCE (not mandatory) covers any loss that may occur in your vehicle. But there is full insurance and optional (preferential) insurance.

Trafik sigortası(insurance): is mandatory and will ONLY pay 3rd party damages if you were found guilty of an accident.
Kasko sigortası: will pay for your own car, some will give you free rental car for repairs, some cover un/under insured driver if one hits you at fault. Most will cover free windscreen replacement once a year!
You could try to get an experience letter from UK if you have AXA, Allianz etc as they operate in Turkey. When I returned from US years ago, I was able to add 4 years of experience with no accidents. It goes up to 7 years and will greatly reduce your premium. Probably your premium won't be nominally down due to insurance but it gets easier if you have no at-fault accidents.

First of all, congratulations on your new car! Everything seems perfect, but there's an important step you may have overlooked. When buying a car in Turkey, it's essential to take it to a professional inspection center, known as an "ekspertiz, " to have it thoroughly checked inside and out.

Turkey's car market can be quite tricky—about 60% of cars sold may have been heavily damaged and then repaired before being put up for sale. This makes it crucial to confirm the car's condition. Although it wasn’t mentioned in the video, I strongly recommend getting your car inspected.

If you decide to sell it later and it turns out to have been in an accident you weren’t aware of, it could lose significant value. For this reason, most people buying cars in Turkey ensure they get an ekspertiz done.

With that much tax, Turkish people don't need any enemies... Enjoy your ride.

I am a foreigner living in Turkiye. When I lived in Istanbul, one of my Turkish neighbors imported cars from the USA. These cars were owned by insurance companies because they wete damaged by water, they were in a flood. My neighbor "repaired" the cars and sold them. I highly doubt that he disclosed the water damage to the new owners. My opinion is to always buy a new car or personally know the owner of the used car if purchasing in Turkiye.

Mike it’s a little tough to get a vehicle in Turkey because of procedures so everyone complains how these procedures are complex but you did it great 😊Enjoy your car and from now on have a nice trips!
