Thank you for the news update Stuart. I've been watching the effects of the DANA storms on mainstream Spanish news channels and the scenes are both terrifying and heartbreaking. I do hope the storms start to recede and that no more lives are lost. It appears that the emergency services are doing a fantastic job.

Watching live here in the UK reporting on the tragic Valencia floods where unfortunately the number of people losing their life due to this seems to be rising. Once in 42 year event I know but it makes no difference if you've lost loved ones or even your home.

Having just moved to the Gandia area in September it was great to see the storm, but it turned into something much worse than a light show as we are all too aware of now.

Our thoughts are with those who didn't survive, still missing and have been severely affected.

Nature at full force.

Yeah... we live in Valencia (la Ciudad), and we're ok. In areas just outside the city, though, it's quite bad. I also saw videos about devastation in both Malaga and Murcia - in Almeria, one can find videos of golfball-sized hail destroying cars.

Wow, the aftermath is insane and something out of a sci-fi end of world movie. Cars just stacked on eachother, mud and debris everywhere, locals crying in the streets shouting for help from the gobierno... 😢

We had it in the Vega Baja region south of Alicante in 2019, I couldnt get into my house for 5 weeks due to the depth of water in my road.

Hola stu and guests. Prayers to the people in the valencian communities. Hopefully the weather people will note high altitude cold air approaching low altitude warm air and develop a better system to forecast the intensity of a coming dana. Good to see crime overall has gone down in spain, despite a higher rate in barcelona compared to madrid. I was under the impression, spain is quite safe compared to other cities despite some pickpocketing in tourists areas.

I lived in Valencia and attended the University of Valencia as a Foreign Exchange Student. I often dream of returning as a senior. Would be my 4th return. I was so surprised to hear the turmoil due to the heavy rain. I also learned of Castellon de la Plana from this YouTube Channel as a potential place to return. I read where it was affected as well? Sad and such a beautiful city. I have the best memories of my life living there, returning several times. Even during Franco's regime, I enjoyed it. Just hope the recovery is swift for all of those affected.
