I have (14) one watch collections and I love them all.

I had a one watch collection for about 50 years. A cheap quartz seiko was my last daily until I got into watches. Now I'm struggling to keep it down to 8 😊.

I’m an enthusiast who is not a collector, but limiting yourself to just one watch forces you to make too many sacrifices in order to force your one watch to do it all. I’d rather go with two watches: a rugged tool and a dressier watch. An affordable combo I personally recommend: a Marathon Steel Navigator for everything sporty and a Christopher Ward Valour chronograph for everything dressy. The pair costs you about $1, 500 USD and covers all bases without feeling forced into any of them. A watch that is good for everything is likely great at nothing.

THANK YOU for not bashing the new Seiko 5 line, like the other guys tend to do! Yes, they cost abit more, but the increased water resistance of 100-proof meters alone is worth an extra 50 to 100 bucks, and with the new calibres that hack, what is not to like :)

The Oceanus lineup looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing the tip. 🥃

I can see myself wearing the Citizen titanium watch for 20-30 years. After all, even though I have over 30 watches, I wear my Casio now most of the time.

I would also recommend a Sinn 556… a bit over 1k USD but can be had in pre-owned market for less. Solid watch, various colorways, screw down crown. Tough yet versatile. Great everyday wear piece!

Glad to see the Casio Oceanus watches on the list. I'm loving my S100. The USD to Yen exchange rate really makes those more affordable nowadays. It's a perfect everyday wear.

Closest I’ve found to a suitable “one watch for life “ is my Citizen AQ4080-52l. Gorgeous dial, great WR, eco drive solar and essentially zero maintenance costs, and perpetual calendar and HAQ means you never need to touch the crown.

A 3 year old Seiko Samurai is the one for me. I've never looked at the time and thought, "I'm bored with this...." Usually it's a struggle to pick another one out of the box.

I have a 1 watch collection for each of my personalities.

Today I'm a pilot.

Good morning from Greece! It is virtually impossible to limit myself to just one watch. Only the show my friend. It is an itch I cannot resist. Cheers.

Happy to see the Casio Oceanus on the list. I’ve had mine a few years now and love everything about it!

I certainly couldn't do a one watch collection. I love my collection of affordable watches, about a dozen Seikos, couple of Orients, and of course a couple of Erebuses as well. Looking forward to my Ascent arriving!

I tend to rotate through my watches fairly frequently - a week on the wrist is about the most any watch gets before it's time for a change. Some of the watches I wear the most, possibly due to recency bias, are my Seiko 5 Sports Nano Universe SE (SBSA187), my Seiko 5 GMT (SSK003), and of course my Erebus Origin (you can't beat that bracelet!).

Thanks for the video Jody, see you in the next one!

Great video! Your point about unobtrusiveness is important and not often talked about. When putting in hard, long hours at work or at play, not noticing your watch is a virtue. Also, on military deployments a bracelet can chafe and irritate. A nylon is best for long term, hard use imho. All the best.

Out of these, only two don't bore me to sleep: the Casio Oceanus, and the Seiko Alpinist. Aside from the Citizen divers, most of the others could nearly be mistaken for each other. Nice review!

Excellent list. I have several of these. My Alpinist is the 1959 Laurel reinterpretation though. Glad to see you put CW on the list. I have considered Traska because of their extra treatment/coating to harden the steel. Just haven’t pulled the trigger
