Cocos Keeling Islands Intensive Clean up Mission 2021

Over a two-week period, crew from Sea Shepherd’s Marine Debris Campaign undertook a huge multi-island clean-up called the "The IOT Trash Bash 21" over the Cocos Keeling Islands, removing more than 8 tonnes of consumer plastics and discarded fishing gear.

The Cocos Keeling Islands are a place of immense natural beauty, home to an abundance of marine life including green and hawksbill turtles, sharks, dolphins and manta rays.

Like many remote islands across the globe, this beautiful atoll is a hotspot for ocean plastics.

We’ll be returning to the islands this year to continue our fight against marine plastic pollution.

Always good to know that Sea Shepherd is always around to help and protect marine life. And to educate humans about the ongoing plastic killer ☠

Great job like always, i really wish that all nets were completely banned, the marine life would be flourishing without them. Here around Indonesia is the same level if not worse than this, on all the islands i have visited. Keep up the great work

Awesome work. Sad that this level of plastic pollution & marine pollution continues. We need to eliminate single use plastic

2 more plastic news:
1: on average, we each ingest 5, 5 grams of plastic per week(more if you eat fish, deunk bottled water
2: another study reveals that nano plastic, often shard shaped, penetrate living cells. More on this in upcoming studies.
Tank you Sea Shepherd and supporters. 🐬🐠

You should team up with Ocean Cleanup. Get those plastic collectors at the end of rivers and drainage for rain water. Maybe get funding to do something similar to what they are doing in the Great Pacific Garage Patch

Oh, guys, these places are paradise .. I recycle, I buy less and naked products, I try to invent to reuse, but we all have to do and buy less. That governments do big business with multinationals is well established. It is us, one by one, who must make a difference with our daily choices. Here we need to review our way of life, it is at the expense of Mother Earth and who lives there. Sorry for the length of time, I miss the syntax!! Thanks Sea Shepherd ✊🐾 Ciao dal Mediterraneo 💧

If companies package there products the packaging should be biodegradable period other you don't sell it . Single use plastic should just be banned if its not law the manufacturers just won't change greed or the environment, greed will always sadly win . Nice job though👍
