BC woman says she found hidden cameras in her California Airbnb: 'I felt sick'

A B.C. woman says she’ll never use Airbnb again after she said she discovered hidden cameras inside an apartment she booked through the vacation rental platform.

“I felt sick to my stomach. I couldn’t believe that someone would actually do that,” Zorina Mellis told Consumer Matters.

Airbnb "we were unable to confirm that your Community Standards of Terms of Service weren't followed. Yet, when Consumers Matters contacts Airbnb, a full refund and admission. In other words it is only a problem when the news media is involved. I don't understand why people still use this service. How unnerving for this guest.

F AirBnB. You shouldn’t have to go to the media to have them deal with the issue in the first place. Hidden cameras are the reason I chose never to stay in a privately-owned home.

Cameras are found in hotel rooms, store changing rooms, public rest rooms etc. This is not an airb&b problem. It's a host problem. Anywhere you go outside your home It's a risk.

Back in the day I rent an apartment form AirBnB. You know that feeling you get when someone is watching you, I got that feeling. Only when I was in the bedroom. I don't do AirBnb anymore.

I refuse to use them, why help displace local renters and price out wanna be homebuyers in the area I want to stay in? Most hotels and inns provide superior hospitality, clean the rooms, make the beds and put out fresh towels.

Airbnb was ok when it was couch surfing in a home the hosts lived in too to save money, now they just contribute to the housing crisis.
