Owned the 890 R. It was already way past my level of insanity I could get to. Not even going to look at the 990. And the 1390 - getthefuggouttahere. 😂

I have a 790 and I love it, however on social media there appears to be a lot of reports of people claiming their camshafts have failed at very, very low milage on the 790 and 890 engines. There is speculation that there is a design or manufacturing fault . It would be helpful if KTM could make a statement regarding these reports either dispelling the claims or offering support if there is a problem and provide reassurance that if properly maintained, owners should expect high milage from the twins. I am interested in the 990 but to buy one I need to be reassured it is reliable and that the manufacture would uphold claims outside of warranty if the durability of the bike was not as would be reasonably expected.
Worrying about wether my 11000 mile 790 engine is afflicted with the camshaft problem, I looked to trade it in against a new Triumph 765rs. The triumph didn’t make me smile like the KTM. If KTM is reading this I hope they can tell me I should not worry about reliability of my 790 and I should be confident in the 990

Great, but give us a 500cc dual-purpose (not enduro) bike. Kind of like a modern DRZ400 mixed with a KLX300 but with 500cc.... no vibration, long service interval, durable, comfortable seat that is reasonably low, modern lighting, good stand up ergonomics, decent fuel capacity, etc. Market has been screaming for this hole in the market to be filled with a fuel injected bike for a generation.

I love the look of it, especially in black. It looks boxy, tires look wide, but entire look is like a ripped UFC fighter.

Dump all this duke stuff and release a 790 110hp SMCR at 165kg, it will sell 10x more ... or make a 990 SCMR under 180kg ...

@KTM What guarantees are there that the cam and cold start issues, from the 790 and 890 motors have been resolved in this new motor? I have lossed all faith in KTM, I'm an 890 Adv R owner and dread it every time I head out on an overnight trip, I have constant cold start issues (been to my dealer 5 times about this, they just shrug their shoulders) and no less than 2 blown up engines, from friends in the past year and more reports with YouTubers, with little to no interest from KTM in resolving the catastrophic failures. I've always been a die hard KTM owner, but I am starting to look at other brands, as a result of how KTM has dealt with the 890 and 790 engine problems and generally passing the blame onto the owner and shirking any responsibility for a poorly designed engine.
