Boss GT1000 Core - The Power of the Assign Matrix

I grabbed a Boss GT1000 Core back in November as I got asked quite a few times how I thought it compared to the HX Stomp etc...One came up used for a good price, so I thought - why not give this another look, and instead of comparisons and what I think wasn't super clear from the marketing, just focus on the good points, and make some music with it....

When setting up your camera on a fixed object ie the Core ! turn off the auto focussing and set it manually on the core . It will stop the system hunting between your hand and the core !! It seems a nice unit !!

Learning how to use the Assigns opens up a whole new level of usability. You can also use assigns for MIDI (in or out), and the internal LFO's and envelopes as well.

So glad you made this. My solution was to make an entirely new preset, which meant taping through my MIDI controller. I figured this could do Scenes but didn't know how to program it. Assign opens up a whole world of possibilities. Thanks!

Also cool that you put Loop 2 within Loop 1, have to try that too 👍🏻

Nice playing man! GT-1000 Core is great, I love that you can set and save different input impedance’s, makes life so much easier when I want to use different guitars with different output levels

I just got this unit. Loving the sounds so far. I only used three basic presets. A main rhythm, a lead with delay and volume boost and a clean. Is there anyway I can programme each preset per the three gt core switches? So rather than toggling up and down I can just hit switch 1 for my rhythm, 2 for lead and 3 for clean?

This probably feels like old news, but I just got a GT 1000 core and I have a DD 500. I wonder if you’ve tried using stereo effects with the two effect loops and how portable are the blocks?

Autofocus was hard to watch... (Maybe zoom in closer?). Appreciate the video - had NO idea there was a Matrix thingy that did thingies. That workflow is faster than I would've guessed.

One thing I like about the assign matrix more than Helix snapshots is the ability to assign 2 sets of effects on one switch, and even swap effects on the go, while snapshot only assign 1 set.

I've seen some people raving about the AIRD feel compared to "other modellers" as they say being the most realistic. They've said that now about the quad cortex now that it's the latest thing out too. How are you finding the gt1000 core's feel compared to say the HX L6?

When you were demonstrating the tube screamer and the other overdrive (around 4:00 and following), I seem to be hearing a light, slow modulation of some sort, like tremolo or phaser? Is it my imagination? I think I even hear it on the intro and outro jams when you're using the higher gain tone (really lovely outro jam by the way!).

There’s a compressor working against you somewhere in your signal chain (probably your speech mic chain, not the gtr). Pumping going on throughout the video.

Would love to see you dive in to the Zoom G6 or G11. Was kinda on the fence on getting a G11 but the LT can all that plus bass so it was an easy decision.
