James Kennerley plays Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag
Показать описание
James Kennerley performs his own transcription of Scott Joplin's (c. 1868–1917): Maple Leaf Rag. Raised on the Texas-Arkansas border, Scott Joplin composed over 100 ragtime pieces. This one, published in 1899, was the most popular during his lifetime. The work is infused with syncopation, an element that would come to define the ragtime genre, and this new arrangement allows for use of the Kotzschmar Memorial Organ's various percussion stops, including the Marimba, Xylophone, and Glockenspiel.
Performed live in concert in August 2021 on the Kotzschmar Memorial Organ by James Kennerley, Municipal Organist for the City of Portland, Maine.
