Ivan's face when he watches Till running back to their captors is so heartbreaking. Like he expected this from Till, and worse yet, he knows he himself will run after him. Adoration and frustration culminating in a sad, resigned longing.

aw man... just realized that one of the ways the alien oppressors kept control over their human pet contestants was to have them form genuine bonds and friendships in childhood so that they would be reluctant to escape without them... because it's easier to escape on your own VS the much more impossible task of saving your friends. Such an effective but insidious method of control..

I just noticed that Till being unconscious for almost the entire song is reflective of his ignorance to Ivan’s real feelings for him. Till only woke near the end in the same sense he only realized at the last minute how Ivan had loved him all this time. Sweet parallels

2:46 In that moment, when Ivan saw Til running back to their alien captors, all because he couldn’t leave Mizi behind, all because he chose Mizi over him and _freedom_ itself, his face looks like he’s thinking, “Yeah. You would do that.” Because that kind of tenacity and stubborn devotion despite all the odds stacked against Til is why he fell in love with the boy. It just hurts because it will never be for him.

I love how this video actually confirms a previous theory! During this song, Ivan allows another person to sing, meaning the whole time the songs are meant to be sung by sections by each person. This means the white hair dude (2nd video) took up all the song time. Whilst the 2 girls sung their song together as a duet to try and trick the system into getting the same score (and failed), which makes me wanna cry more :((

I js realized that at first, his eyes are pure black as though life didnt have any meaning for him. But then when he saw till, you could see the red in his eyes which probably meant his love and obsession over Till

tbh i didnt expect myself to be this attached to ivan. When he was first introduced in the alien stage trailer i thought that he's the smooth and manipulative type of character. But looking at his round i somehow find him quite relatable. He might seems quite apathetic but he's actually just bottling up his feelings, his love and admiration for till, and his sorrow...

I like how Till's song ends with drums whereas Ivan's starts with them, as if one was meant to be a continuation of the other, like Till's rebellion could only naturally result in Ivan's yearning.

I think the power of this song comes from the bitter-sweet irony of their dynamic. At first, we see that Ivan, despite his situation, still longed for freedom, even if it meant the end of everything, symbolised by the shooting stars that may shine brightly and beautifully while they run through the dark sky, but are still fated to crash in the most destructive way. Yet, his will seemed to disappear slowly as time went by, he became numb, years of use and abuse turned him into a singing puppet traded and paraded by his masters. Until he crossed path with Till, who unapologetically kept his free spirit and fighting will despite the punishments and the risks for his very life (though we can easily guess that his only saving grace is his value as a singer). Ivan could only fall for him, the embodiment of his repressed desires, to the point of trying to save him and run away together. And we can see that both of them seem truly happy, maybe for the first time since a long time, while a rain of meteors crashes around them, the culmination of this freedom they were after, knowing that could cost them their life if they are found out before managing to leave. But then a realisation hits Till, most likely the fact that he can't stand leaving Mizi behind even if it means giving up his only chance of realising his dream of freedom. And Ivan, understanding that the person he saw as his symbol of hope not only loved someone else enough to stay in a place he hated, but also turned out to be a willing prisoner because of the very feelings that gave him the will to fight, can only smile bitterly yet longingly: it didn't change how he felt for Till, and he too found himself unable to run away without him. The tenderness and resignation of his gaze at this moment is such a masterpiece of artistry that every time I watch it my stomach is tied in knots and I have a lump in my throat 😭 In the end the shooting star rain he dreamt about all his life only resulted in a black sorrow for him, and the fact that he knows he will have to compete against Till in the next round makes everything even more heartbreaking

This one is definitely my favourite in the series so far. While "My Clematis" was the last love song of two lovers who wanted to share this final moment and "Unknown - 'til the end" was a declaration of both love and war no matter the consequences, Ivan's song is the pinnacle of everything that makes Alien Stage so fascinating, it's a tale of tragedy, of an unrequited love, an unattainable dream and a fate none of them can fight against. Yet they all give their best, to give a meaning to their performances, to take this chance to express the things they could never express before... I think I'm gonna cry lmao

its fascinating how all of them are just kind of... unaware of each other. like, in round one, we're only shown the girls and their friendship and how much they mean to one another. in Till's song, all of the memories he's focusing on to sing are about Mizi and i don't think we even see Ivan. which is weird considering Ivan literally broke them both out of whatever prison they were in and tried to *free* them both from captivity. and in Ivan's song, he sees Till and Mizi, but in the beginning, he didn't take an interest in Till until he saw him rebel. Ivan was more or less just going through the motions, resigned to his imprisonment. he only took notice of Mizi at all because Till liked her
it's just so interesting how it appears like they were all raised/imprisoned together but all of their stories hardly intertwine, only focusing on one other person at most despite the fact that there are so many other kids around them

The amount of passion Vivnos manages to put in the eyes of her characters is something I can never get over, you can see their madness, their sorrow, their longing and it makes me absolutely feral since each character is so different

I absolutely LOVE 2:47 where it looks like Ivan accidentally let his actual emotions slip into his singing, and he immediately tries to compose himself. The sorrow in his face turning to frustration, then finally to his usual cool apathetic expression. That's sooo gorgeous

Coming back here after round 6 is just so devastating because with each line Black Sorrow seems more and more like Cure… literally each word perfectly captures Ivan’s unreciprocated love for Till… :( and the fact that Till actually wears BLACK in round 6 is like another punch in the gut… 😭
