Spec Corvette - Wilwood Front Brake Kit Install

Spec Corvette allows C5 generation cars with a build that is under $20K not including labor. Wilwood is the official front brake kit supplier for this racing class, P/N 140-14557-N and hose kit P/N 220-8176.

P.S. Wilwood's two-piece rotor assembly requires safety wiring the mounting bolts. You will need a set of special pliers to do it. We do not show this process in the video because there are already a lot of videos out there showing how to do it correctly.

Not sure why this brake kit was chosen for the Spec Corvette class. A class designed to build a race car for $20, 000. This kit costs $3, 100 and the rotors without the hats are $433 each. They could have selected the Wilwood 140-12629 kit which is almost a third of the cost $1, 200 and still used AERO6 calipers radially mounted and stock C6 Z51 13.38 inch front rotors which are $45 each. You could buy 22 pairs of brand new front rotors for the price difference between the two kits. One Wilwood rotor cost would get you almost 10 stock Z51 rotors.

About to install same exact kit on my 01 Z06. Nice detailed video, well done. I was curious if I’d have caliper clearance issues with my stock wheels but it appears I’ll be fine 😃
