Lady Gaga - Artpop ALBUM REVIEW

Art Pop is easily Lady Gaga's most eccentric and colorfully produced album yet. However, she still doesn't go far enough to keep her very radio-friendly band of pop interesting for an entire album--especially when it comes to lyrics.

What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

FAV TRACKS: AURA, VENUS, G.U.Y, SEXXX DREAMS, APPLAUSE, FASHION!

LEAST FAV TRACK: GYPSY

LADY GAGA - ART POP

6/10

Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?

Art pop has aged amazingly. A timeless album that is far too slept on. I think a big part of it not matching up to expected commercial success was interscope. Releasing Aura as the telephone sequel like planned would’ve made this era a whole hit. Maybe then we would’ve gotten Artpop act 2 :(

I completely agree that the production on ARTPOP is some of the best I've ever heard.

I think the song, "Manicure" is underrated.

Gaga produces or co-produces every song on all of her albums!

Lady Gaga actually produced most of Venus. She's showed she's multi-talented.

I honestly love Born This Way because it makes me feel like I should be me instead of being someone else.

She's a mainstream artist in the sense that she's incredibly popular, however Born This Way was not a mainstream pop record and to view it in that context will always set it up for failure, it is much more than that.

I actually thought the lyrics on Aura were clever. The song is about seeing past the "aura" that is Lady Gaga. That song has an Israeli instrumental and she describes wearing a burqa. From this point of view, I think the lyrics "do you want to see me naked, lover? Do you wanna peek underneath the covers?" come off as very cheeky. I like that she creates a whole story and world within each song and sticks to that world's ideals and poetry, the track "Judas" also comes to mind. That's what's so fun and interesting about her music.

I really cannot disagree with you more in that she's not experimental with her music. Sure there are a few rather generic melodies in SOME of her songs but I've yet to hear anyone else come out with songs like Scheisse, Heavy Metal Lover, Government Hooker, VENUS, Sexxx Dreams, Aura, Dope, etc etc etc. She has a huge bank of very original material and nothing like what you would typically hear on mainstream radio today.

I think you sometimes need to look deeper into the lyrics than the literal meaning of them 😅 for example aura is not literally about peeking underneath her cover and seeing her naked. Its the introduction for the rest of album because what she mesnd when she says "do you wanna peek underneath the cover" is "do you wanna know the truth about me as an artist?" Because to her this album represents a lot of things. Her experience with rape in the past (swine) her undying love and devotion for her fans and for her music (applause) her friendship with and admiration for donatella versace (donatella) her plea against being put inside of the pop box or any box (jewels and drugs) her view on the media, how they always try to put her down and whatmore but she will never give in to the pressure of the media (do what u want). Further she produced Venus herself and so do all the songs have a deeper layer of meaning if you look into it.
