I was 13 when I first heard this song and it made me nostalgic, I'm almost 32 now and it still makes me nostalgic. My parents, in their late 50s and early 60s, get nostalgic hearing this song. This is a song where no matter what age you are it will make you think of some better state of being.

But what I really like about this song is the line "Do you really want to live forever?" It comes straight after the line "I want to be forever young" and breaks the illusion of that line. But it's a beautiful realistic conclusion. We only think we would want to live forever, but in reality, to not die would be a hell in itself. This life and world are meant to be temporary, as are we. Then, through death, comes real, eternal Life. It's an interesting paradox: we have to die to become immortal.
