The Texas Longhorns added another 5-star recruit to their 2023 recruiting class on Monday. Safety Derek Williams committed to the Big 12 program over Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, LSU, Clemson and Oklahoma. The 6’2, 185-pounder wasted little time in making his decision official, becoming the first consensus five-star safety to commit to Texas since BJ Foster a little more than five years ago.

Texas is not back. (Yet) Everyone is sleeping on Arkansas. I'm a betting man but, have family in Arkansas. Cash rules everything around me.

People saying Texas was back when they were in the top 5 recruiting and having top 15 recruiting every year but can’t win a big 12 championship

Texas isn’t back until they win a conference title 2 out of the 3 years.

They aren’t back until they’re “back.” Remember them beating UGA in the Sugar Bowl? What do Texas fans define as “back” as well? I personally believe within the next 2-4 years they’ll make the playoffs if they keep getting top1-7 classes. Gotta get ‘em consistently, though. Also, as someone who has watched college football for what seems like a long time. Texas is a blue blood in my eyes but in reality they haven’t even won that many NC’s. Before the ‘05 NC they hadn’t won one since the 70’s. Not hating. Was just surprised when I found that out. Also with 16 commits currently and only 3 are top100 players…. Usually not a great sign unless they can sign 26 and legit get 8-10 more. Bama/UGA/Ohio St/ A&M last year usually get 10-17 top100 players within their classes. Do that, Texas, and you’ll be guaranteed to “be back.”

First and foremost… manning is an average QB and above average if he goes all out he’s only 5 star because of his last name
Second: Texas literally doesn’t have much of a team so they have to build a whole new class which won’t last long because manning will be gone after a few years
