Yamaha R15 V4 is a motorcycle with a starting price of Rs 1.82 Lakh. It is available in India in 5 variants and 7 colours with high end variant price starting from Rs 1.98 Lakh. R15 V4 is powered by a 155 ccbs6 engine which develops a power of 18.4 PS and a torque of 14.2 Nm. It has Disc front brakes and Disc rear brakes. The weight of Yamaha R15 V4 is 142 kg and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 11 L.

The Yamaha R15 V4 is a 155cc sport bike, it gets its gets its design inspiration from its bigger sibling, the Yamaha YZF R1. Launched in 2021, the fourth generation R15 V4 sits below the new Yamaha R3 in the supersport line-up.

The Yamaha R15 V4 is now available in five colours, including the updated Metallic Red and Racing Blue and the recently launched Vivid Magenta Metallic. The other two are Dark Knight and Intensity White.

The Metallic Red is priced at Rs. 1,82,000, whereas the Dark Knight retails at Rs. 1,83,000. The Racing Blue, Intensity White and Vivid Magenta Metallic cost Rs. 1,87,000. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The prices of the existing colours have remained unchanged.

Yamaha R15 V4 Engine

The Yamaha R15 V4 gets the 155cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected engine that generates 18.4PS @10000rpm and 14.2Nm @7500rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The powertrain uses variable valve actuation (VVA) technology to balance good bottom-end grunt and top-end drive.

Further, the assist and slipper clutch ensures a light lever action and also prevents the rear wheel from locking while engine braking aggressively.

Yamaha R15 V4 Mileage

The tested real-world mileage figures of Yamaha R15 V4 for the city and highway are 55.20 kmpl and 60.56 kmpl, respectively.

Yamaha R15 V4 Suspension & Brakes

The Yamaha R15 V4 gets an inverted fork and a linked rear monoshock suspension. In terms of braking, the motorcycle features a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. The bike gets a 100/80-17 sized tubeless tyre at the front and a 140/70 R17 tubeless radial at the rear.

The ground clearance of 170mm helps the bike easily handle speed breakers and bad roads. The R15 V4 has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres with a seat height of 815mm.

Yamaha R15 V4 Key Features

The Yamaha R15 V4 packs a fully digital instrument cluster showing different street and race stats. The panel is Bluetooth-enabled and lets the smartphone synchronise via the Yamaha Y-Connect app to display call/SMS/e-mail alerts and phone battery status, among others.

Further, it gets a dual-horn, side stand engine cut-off switch and traction control that helps reduce the chances of wheel slippage on slippery roads. The Quick shifter (upshifts only) is an optional accessory for Dark Knight and Metallic Red colour variants.

Yamaha R15 V4 Rivals

There are no direct competitors of the Yamaha R15 V4 in the market. However, at this price, one can consider buying more powerful alternatives in the form of the KTM RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS200 and Hero Karizma XMR. Also, the Suzuki Gixxer SF comes with the same displacement at a relatively lower price point.
