People tend to forget that actors are playing a role that demands them to repeat all mannerisms, voice, accent, and what not of a character. Getting out of the zone can literally destroy the illusion that they must be ready to play in every shot. It's simply the best method: stay in character all of the time.

People talk shit about these so called "method actors", but the reality is that they are often tasked with a more complete transformation than someone like Matt Damon. It's much easier to turn it on and off if you arent having to completely transform every time.

I’ve heard the exact opposite…. When making one of the Batman movies in the Uk one of the extras was Welsh (Christian is apparently Welsh, born there or family from there) and the extra asked him where he was from (he wasn’t being rude or dismissive, they were having a conversation) and he told the extra he was from Gotham .
