If I Was A BJJ Whitebelt Again - This is What I'd Do Differently #bjj
Показать описание
Being a white belt is mostly about showing up and getting smashed by higher belts. In other words, it's a volume game.
The more you do, the better you get.
But there's only so much you can do in class and continue to progress without leaving major holes in your game later on.
This goes for all belts to be frank, but starting this journey early leaves you even better off.
Here are 2 things all white belts must do to improve faster:
✅️ 1) Practice Slow
The saying "slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" fits well here.
You must always practice at a speed in which you can think about what's going on and how to deal with the problem your opponent presents to you.
Slow it down and when you feel confident, don't go from 20% effort to 80%.
It doesn't work that way! Go to 22.5% or 25%.
✅️ 2) Create Structure
The second thing you must start doing is to create Structure in your training weeks.
One very effective is to dedicate each day to a particular area of BJJ.
For example, Monday can be take down day. Tuesday can be escape day. Wednesday can be attacks from closed guard day. You get the gist.
Schedule your week. Then, pick 2 or 3 moves you're allowed to practice within each day.
Stick with this for 3 to 6 months.
Your BJJ will be revolutionised. You'll have more energy, not get injured and allow your progress to continue long term.
