One thing to keep in mind, is that you should never solely listen to another person when it comes to controller layout, sensitivity, etc. for me, 8 sensitivity might be perfect, but for you, it could feel way too fast. And when it comes to binds, they depend on what controller you use, your hand size, and what you prefer. It ALL comes down to YOU.

Nice vid! There's some great insight here on how to choose settings/sensitivities and also using "chords"... I think that style of mappings are really valuable! Gotta point out though (at like 1:24), a 9 sensitivity on 0.8 ADS isn't equal to 7.2 ADS sensitivity because Destiny sensitivities aren't linear on controller.

Big yes on the “avoid double press”. I also have a battle beaver (ps5) and just used a default button layout with X (jump) and circle (crouch) on the back buttons. After 6 months of double pressing circle to dodge, the button has started to wear out, and no longer does double press well. To be fair, I play a ton and have been mashing the shit out of the button, so it’s my fault, not the controllers. I have since mapped dodge to right stick, but may take your suggestion and try mapping it to the chord of my back buttons, as this would let me map uncharged melee to right stick. Good video!

1:56 For some reason i was worried about turning vibration off. I tried it about a month ago. My aiming has gotten much tighter. Wish i did it years ago. Somthing so small made a big difference. Great vid Drew

I always randomly switch to a Claw grip depending on the situation and it can even happen mid game. I never even looked it up or thought about it. All of a sudden I was doing it at times. I guess my body unconsciously was trying to find solutions to button layout problems since I’ve spent 25 years of my life holding a controller lmao

Razor makes a pretty solid controller, I use it and it’s been very reliable

At just over the minute-mark, while listening to your button assignments, my head exploded.

Completely agree with keeping important button presses off the face buttons. I made the switch to m&k but before the switch I used an elite controller and I essentially just made the four paddles the face buttons, and this upped my gameplay a ton. Being able to keep that right thumb on the stick is a huge advantage for controller players.

I love my Razer Wolverine, been using it for years with little to no problems and it’s buttons are unmatched to any controller I’ve used. However, I never heard of battle beaver but after a quick peek they look super slick and customizable! Just hope it’s as durable as the Razer, thanks for the vid drew ❤️

I’ve used bumper jumper for as long as I can remember, love it

I play standard layout with modded command inputs. Experimenting with some button combos right now.

Controller is Xbox Elite Series 2 has four paddles which I find to be the minimum number necessary to be able to map things to do things without taking fingers off of the triggers/buttons or thumbs off of the sticks. Too bad it's an RMA pain in the ass with stick drift and shoulder button failures. On number 2 (soon to be 3), 6 months on these things. -___-

Paddles (TL, BL, TR, BR): B, Up, A, X

My bindings are mostly vanilla but steal the taunt buttons for multi-binding purposes:
RB (press) = Unpowered Melee
Up + B (press) = Class Ability / Air Move
Up + RB (press) = Powered Melee (this is really unreliable with how the activation distances differ, so a Battle Beaver with 6 rear buttons might be useful to use a single input)
Down + each face button = Taunts

Actually the biggest problem I have with D2 as a controller player is that the standard control surface (the set of unique buttons that are recognized) isn't enough with the new melee binds and the class ability / air move buttons.

I will definitely look at the Battle Beaver, but I think I can wait for your testimonial on the durability first since my RMA is happening right now. Looking at the site's customizer, I am a bit concerned about the reprogrammability / ease of use there since I haven't settled on buttons, and having a difficult configuration process for different games would be a pain / push me off of using the controller for more than just D2.

Also been through 5 elite series 2 controllers so far in only a year. Only went through a single series 1 elite controller in 5 years. But I don’t play 8 hours a day. As you said, the bumpers are the first thing to fail and the left stick does drift over time. I buy at Costco and return if I ever have issues as they have never denied my return and free replacement (brand new). Best Buy charges $40 for insurance but also has brand new controllers in store.

Battle Beaver makes a nice controller. The only issue is the placement of the buttons can be expensive as it is hard know w/o using one where the best locations are.

Hello from Russia (sorry for the mistakes), I put the same button layout... and OMG it works, as if the shackles fell off my hands, thanks man.
By the way, I've been playing Elite v2 for six months now and so far everything is fine.

I play with Ads, Shoot, reload, and switch weapons standard. From there it gets weird. L1 press is jump, L1 hold is Icarus dash, R1 press is crouch, R1 hold is sprint. L3 is grenade, R3 is charged Melee, X is uncharged melee, and circle is class ability. It's worked out pretty well so far. Excited for PS5 to get a back button attachment at some point, and then I'll do another switch around but for now this is nice.

I have had the best luck with my elite series 1. I have had just minor stick drift, the grips falling off, and a slightly broken, but full functional left bumper since I got it 4 years ago. This has lasted longer than any regular controller I have had prior.

I've had the same Cinch Gaming PS4 controller since 2015 and still going strong. Lots of use in Destiny and CoD. I also prefer the buttons over paddles and they're much more durable.
