This is a short tutorial describing the vocabulary used throughout IB math exams, specifically focusing on sets and set vocabulary

A way to remember the correct way to is the "subset" symbol, the symbol that looks like the letter "c" with a line under it. Think about it kind of like the "less than" symbol. Like 3 <_ {1, 2, 3}. (Imagine the "less than" symbol with the underscore is the subset notation.)

Now think of it much the same way you would with the greater than and less than symbols but with a twist. The open "mouth";of the subset symbol is like an alligator opening it's mouth. And the alligator want the largest meal. You see in: 3 <_ {1, 2, 3} the alligator wants to eat the large set, not that punie little 3. In a similar sense, the mouth of the subset symbol is open to eat the larger set.

Of course this silly analogy has it's limits, as do all analogies. But this is just a simple little thing that Anton left out that I thought might be useful.
