One of the most underrated controllers is the updated controller for the original Xbox... it was needed.

Also as for SNES vs Genesis. It's worth keeping in mind that the Genesis came out years before the SNES, so it was at first competing with the NES.

Things you forgot to mention:
The Famicom controller was attached to the console
The Dreamcast controller had it's wire coming out of the bottom for some reason
So did Wii Classic controller
Both Xbox One & Xbox series controller still use AA batteries
Steam controller looks like one of those mockups of "What if apple made a console" and plays as you'd expect
The GameCube controller also looks like an space invader

The reason the N64 controller is shaped that way is because of the era it released in. 3D games weren't as common as nowadays, & Nintendo wanted a way to subtly implement 3D into the controllers. They shaped it that way to give players a familiar control scheme with & without the stick. Because of this, there are 3 ways to hold the controller.

The first is for 3D games, & is what most people use, the middle & right prong. The 2nd is for FPS games like Goldeneye. Use the left prong for movement, & middle for aiming. The 3rd is for 2D games & uses the outer grips. Because of how the buttons are aranged, this playstyle also gives you a reliable Sega Genesis 6-button controller with shoulder buttons. All games pick from one of the 3 playstyles, so there's no need to use all the buttons at once.

With that in mind, the N64 controller is a lot better designed than what most people say. The only real issue is the stick. It uses digital inputs instead of true analog potentiometers, much like an old computer mouse with a rubber ball. This makes it more precise than a modern stick & immune to stick drift, all at the cost of being more expensive & being made out of cheap plastic that wears down fast.

never have I met someone who almost perfectly shares my opinion on game controllers. I always get so much hate for not liking the ps4 controller, but even as an xbox player the ps5 is still the nicest thing I've ever played games with

Correction: the nes controller has 4 buttons and a D pad. The start and select are buttons too!

Technically you could argue that the Wii Nunchuk add-on works as a seperate controller, however it's debatable (plus, it's just one Joy-Stick and 2 back buttons)

Also I forgot to mention my hot take, I hate the ps1-3 dual shock controllers. Even as a kid, I always felt the sticks were kinda uncomfortably placed.
