DC’s Clayface (2021) - HBO Concept Trailer - Rami Malek, Oscar Isaac

Disclaimer! As you may or may not have guessed, this is NOT a real trailer lol. BUT I do find there’s a unique sort of joy in experiencing trailers when you believe them to be legit. Regardless, I think this is one of the best fake trailers I’ve made to date, so I really hope you enjoy!

Synopsis: Following a traumatic incident on set, Matthew Hagen (Rami Malek), world-famous actor spirals into a depression, fearing his career is finished. However, while he recovers, Hagen starts using a cream uniquely curated to fix all permanent facial imperfections, created by Roland Daggett, (Oscar Isaac) a rich businessman who rarely values human life more than profit. Out of fear of once again losing his career, Matt goes to reckless lengths to acquire more cream and another unfortunate accident leaves Hagen with a unique power, as he can now transform into anyone — or anything.

I decided to play off the two-episode Clayface storyline featured in Batman the Animated Series. I just recently revisited the show and fell in love with Matt Hagen’s storyline. Honestly, that series just shows how compelling and heart-wrenching each villain’s origin story truly is. (At least for me anyway lol).

Casting: Rami Malek as Matt Hagen, Oscar Isaac as the antagonist (Based on Roland Daggett)

This time around I aimed to use less recognizable content, even sourcing through stock footage to make this seem as real and fresh as possible. I also watched many movie trailers, fake and real alike, to get a better idea of what they consist of and their basic format.
