S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha - New Vegetation Presentation

Here is a short presentation video about the redesigned vegetation in Lost Alpha project. It wasn't an easy decision to remake all the vegetation at this stage of the development. We had to redesign many old models, or completely replace them, because no matter how cool they were, due to the boxy design and uv texturing errors, they simply were not acceptable for modern day standards... We tried to keep the old design as much as possible, but as you see, we enhanced not only the vegetation models, but the general objects, such as buildings, and small props. When we say "enhance" it does not mean we simply exchanged texture on them, but mostly remade the whole model. It wasn't simple and easy, but every single bit worth the time we put in it.

i really hope this get's a commercial release! I would gladly pay 15-25 euros to the developers who bring some new life into one of my all time favorite game series

The way the wind sounds is a bit weird it has almost like a winter chill to it but other than that everything is absolutely stunning!

Fantastic... u know why I love this game so much, and why I await this mod like a mad man? The atmosphere is so great, it makes my imagination run on 110%... when I watched this vid, at 2:57 theres a desolate building, I imagined I decided to spend a night there, but than Ive heard the sounds the creatures are making, so again I imagined that when the night slowly sets in, I re-evaluate my decision and move to the tower at the 3:50 mark and Ill hope I will make it thru the night alive, guarding the place... staying in those swamps at night is a very bad idea.. :D Bring it on PLEASE!!!!

AtmosFear has been implemented in LA about 2 years ago. We haven't decided what quality of the skyboxes we will include in final release but even if we decide to go normal quality (6x512x512) there will be hi-res version available to download (6x1024x1024)

thanks :) ye, sounds will be changed later. about running: it was adjusted, now its something like in CoP.

the trees look great dez. absolutely great stuff. i just have a few suggestions that may be useful for your team.
with regards to the sounds in the swamps, please add the rustling of the bushes in random along with a low frequency wind howling, it happens in real life as well and could add a bit of neutrality and then, do mix some howling noises from various creatures in random as well.
with regards to the trees, i would love to see your presentations on how it behaves with the wind. good luck

water in dx10 and dx9.5 changes with the weather. if the weather is gloomy, the water is dark and less transparent, if its sunny, then the water is brighter, and more transparent...

in the second half of the video is too frequent a random sounds. I hope they are in the game will be played with a lot more interval. And so well done great

I feel that there was a bit too much 'artificial' ambient sounds in the swamps, such as people screaming, they need bigger gaps in between. Looks sweet though, good luck guys!
