Alec Baldwin's 'Rust' Shooting Investigation: New Details Emerge

A Santa Fe County Sherriff's Department press conference revealed nothing is being ruled out yet in terms of potential criminal charges in the accidental fatal shooting of "Rust" cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. This comes as the two people who were responsible for checking the gun reveal their versions of what happened that day. Assistant director Dave Halls and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's accounts to police were revealed in a search warrant affidavit released Wednesday.

Alec will definitely be charged & that’s unfortunate. If it were me, I would’ve double checked to make sure I was in the clear but that’s in addition to assuming that the ppl hired to oversee this one thing did their jobs. Alec faces civil liability for negligent hiring. The propmasters union local is in Santa Fe. He didn't want to spend the money for 3 expert craftsman, so he hired one novice. Baldwin is still criminally negligent.

Baldwin had care and control and neglected to check the weapon personally. Others will be implicated likewise.

People should let the legal system sort this out and stop rushing to judgement of who is guilty and who should go to jail. Must be nice to be so perfect that you can be so judgmental and none of you were even there. Let the legal system do its job. All this preliminary judgment and gossip and insults helps no one.

What would make the AB yell HOT GUN? That would be loading it.... with blanks. But they yelled COLD GUN. If true, that means he did not load any bullets, or blanks. If there was a round in there, it means they didn't check, and he didn't put anything in it. You don't know when the round was put in, it may have been cold. But my point is, if they yelled cold gun, then they had no intention and did not load it with blanks. That means a live round found its way in the gun after it was handed to him, or he never checked. So, someone was probably target shooting and didn't unload it. The person in charge of the guns may have left and they used it while he or she was gone and didn't know, and assumed it was still unloaded. Either way, saying it was cold means the armor bearer did not intend for it to have blanks. If blanks and real round was in the gun, that means the armor bearer did load it, and did not say cold gun. And that part would be a lie to pass the blame. If blanks were in it, why say cold gun? If they thought they only loaded blanks, it's hot. So either the armor barer lied and said it's cold, or the crew is lieing if blanks were also in the gun.
