I love that the title is "Toyota And Subaru..." but 95% of the video is about Porsche xD

This thing that Porsche is doing is next level.

Using the pollutants to create a fuel for petrol cars? Next level.

I am a 15 year old, and in my country if you are 18 plus, you allowed to be drive cars, not under that. I had always loved internal combustion engine cars, and after hearing that in the future they will be no more, I was very disappointed. But after hearing current news, I am really happy to see that manufacturers have finally found a solution to this internal combustion engine problem. Kudos to them!

A slightly nice informative piece but missing some key information that makes it all more viable. While Porsche and Siemens energy are the backbones of this frontier they're not alone.

Shell is also another jumping on board with a test run. In Convent, Louisiana, a refinery is currently out of tolerance due to age and wear, and has been scheduled for decommission and disassembly. However in light of the huge success by Porsche's initiative, they will instead repair and revamp the facility to....

Produce synthetic fuels.
And this is major if even coming from a minor oil company like Shell. The only problem for Shell is that Louisiana is the oil state, and is not known for very many clean electrical production sites. I can count on one hand the number of solar sites I've seen. And wind? Hurricanes tend to render them unviable, though you'd think the opposite.

Also let's not jump on that tacky name "efuel" which sounds like some 6 year old came up with it. Synfuel and S-fuel still makes more sense.

EV's have been mauling lithium mines around the world so it's great to hear Porsche is already working for a better alternative

Synthetic fuels are going to be an inevitable necessity for many sectors like marine, construction, and aviation. It's only a matter of time before they become available and affordable to the general public.

However, in the US and Canada, this does not preclude the need for better public transportation (at a minimum) and better urban planning.

The powers that be are pushing for electric vehicles because they can control us better. Fuel means autonomy to some degree. The push for EV is so strong for a reason.

I really hope they succeed. I'm a biker and electric motorcycles just ain't fun. I really love my V4 revving up to 12k RPM, nothing can replace that feeling.

I kind of just like the fact that Porsche appreciates the potential of both gas and EV

If they manage to successfully do this i will forever be a porsche fan and ill even work for them.

I did a research project about this a while back. Good to know that Porsche is going through with it.

I think there are a couple more important arguments:
-EV supporters often say that any compustion engines are bad in any case, even with CO2 neutral fuel, because their energy efficency is to low compared to EVs. But I think that's not a good argument, because here on earth there are enough gigantic sources of renewable energy like some deserts where there is a lot of space, not much wildlife or humans and perfect conditions for e.g. solar energy, so getting energy is not the problem if we pick the right spot. The problem is to transport the energy to where it's needed. Long cables don't work and big batteries on ships are a terrible idea too, so we are forced to use suboptimal places close to where the energy is needed (big cities).
If we now start to produce eFuel at those remote places with have optimal conditions for renewable energy we don't have to worry about energy efficency that much and because the energy is now stored in an energy dense liquid it's much easier to transport compared to electricity.
-EVs might be a "solution" for first world countries, but there are many countries were people can't afford new electric cars and they don't have the electrical infrastructure. Those countries already have a lot of old cars on the road and if everybody in the first world buys an EV a lot more used combustion engine cars will be send to the 2nd and 3rd world, where they continue to drive for decades to come (probably even without a functioning catalytic converter). So EVs might help to lower CO2 emissions in the first world, but we don't solve the problem for the rest of the world, we just move our emission to other countries.

I hope that this is gonna save all the nice vehicles on this planet 💪

There are another machines that can extract CO2 from air. Those machines are called plants... And methanol can also be obtained from them... Also kind of diesel can be obtained using plants, for those who don't know, diesel engine was developed by Rudolph Diesel with The idea of using oil from plants in mind

10 years ago, my chem teacher went on a rant (it was pretty common for this to happen and educational) about the same exact bio fuel. The guy was beyond his damn time

🤔 Did I miss the Toyota and Subaru part?.. I guess I’m tripping I’ll watch it again.

Porsche have been running this synthetic fuel in all of their Porsche Cayaman Cup, Carrera Cup, Super Cup racing car series across the globe. Formula 1 have also been highlighting this type of fuel in some of the old F1 cars as well.

my main question is the price per gallon, i bet with the added amount of steps and it being so new, the ppg is going to be through the roof.
update: i looked it up and its expected to be $45 a gallon. thats how much it is to fill my SUV from empty. if they can find a way to bring the price down to a regular fuel price ($3-$5) i feel it would be "an ideal lifestyle"
